Anyone else watch this series?
Did the ending of this season seem just a bit fishy to you? (Sorry for the bad pun.)
Will Animal Planet have this series on again?

I watched it and I have to agree with you with the ending.
Overall I like the show but there was a few things about it that had me scratching my head wondering how stupid they could be.

I thought it would have been better if Sea Sheppard would have pulled out RPGs instead of rotten butter. Just my opinion, that would've been sweet!
I have it DVR'd for my dad. They dont have any tv stations. I DVR stuff and put it on VHS for them. This is one of the shows he likes.
According to a promo screen at the end of the finale, 2009 will bring Whale Wars 2.

The captain and some of the others seemed to have absolutely NO CLUE whatsoever about lots of things, IMO. The use of satellite phones to stay in contact is NOT a big deal, but the folks couldn't seem to master it; flying a helicopter with a damaged prop is dangerous; a damaged pelvis needs immediate medical attention at a facility with the proper equipment for dealing with it (my wife, an RN, is still amazed the lady did not "bleed out" from that "small" injury); etc. Some of the "captain's" decisions seemed to be very questionable and his attempts to strong arm the crew into making the decision he wanted seemed downright stupid and childish.
Somehow, I am thinking the Japanese vessel did NOT fire a weapon at The Sea Shepherd and that "stopped by a badge" was a HOAX. First off, there is no way a bullet that actually penetrated a kevlar vest would not leave a massive bruise on the "captain" and if it had penetrated the vest, it would have kept on going and going and ........ The star was just over the top, Paul must have seen that Gunsmoke when he was a kid where that was ripped off from. :D

The choices they made for "weapons of mass stinking" and " w of m slipperiness" were kind of fun, too. :D As most of the "crew" (being very generous there) are vegetarians and would wager most are pacifists as well, don't look for them to bring out any RPGs. Also, something tells me that the Australian Navy may just come into play if the SS started using anything like RPGs. :D
Question: I was under the impression that Japan (as well as Germany) was barred by the treaty (Potsdam Agreement) that ended WWII from ever having a Navy again. If that is indeed true, why were members of the crew so worried that the non-existent Japanese navy was going to come after them?

That will make my wife's day as she liked the show much more than I did (and I am the PETA member of the family!) While I agree with what they are trying to do, it seems that with a bit better organization, they could do much better.

Thanks ... I only got a glimpse of the screen and obviously missed that.

While I have mixed emotions on whether or not I think their mission is legal, moral, or even possibly illegal but morally justified, I still really enjoy the show and have the following comments about it....
I too thought that the shooting at the captain scenario may have been faked by him for propaganda purposes. It all did seem to be a bit fishy, and the extraordinary detail of the bullet being stopped by the sheriff's badge seemed to be a little bit over the top, adding to the fishy-ness of it all.
On the subject of winning the propaganda war, they should really stop saying that they are tossing containers of "butyric acid" at the whaling ships. It sounds a lot better to say that you are tossing "rotten butter stink bombs" at them than saying that you are tossing acid at them.
They could benefit from going more high-tech in their thinking about the war that they are waging. One or more unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) would probably be a much cheaper and safer way of doing airborne search and reconnaissance (and could also be orders of magnitude more effective in delivering stink bombs to the decks of the whaling ships).
Since they are only a single vessel up against a full fleet that includes a refueling vessel, adding their own refueling vessel or contracting the services of one would eliminate the tactic of the whalers just running from them until they are forced to go back to port to refuel.
BTW, just a few days ago there was a news report that a worker fell overboard from one of the whaling ships (unrelated to any confrontation with the Sea Shepherd operation) and that he was not able to be rescued or even found. The whalers accused the Sea Shepherd people of interfering with their search and rescue mission, which they strongly denied, adding that they even offered search and rescue assistance including using their helicopter in the search.
