If I plugged my PI into my SWM-8 closer that 15', did I ruin my SWM-8? I have been experimenting with different setups to get my SWM-8 working properly(http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=148085). At one point I connected the PI to the SWM-8 with about 6' of cable so I could connect my SWM-8 inside my house temporarily. The permanent location of the SWM will be outside and the PI will be inside. The length of cable between them will be over 15'.

Very unlikely you did any damage by using the shorter cable. The power difference is negligible. But the RF impedance can be a factor on the shorter runs. At most you might get less than ideal total distance on the cable runs.

Merry Christmas,
