Hi again DBStalk community! I appreciate any help that I can get on this situation. My employer for reasons of saving money wants me to move from Oregon to Idaho. I am single and willing to do this. My problem is the place I am going to rent had a bad experience with an Ironwood installer in the past. Most of the issues where exterior wiring. I currently have two HR21s, R22 and R15. I am jettsoning the R15 since I only need 3 rooms for TV. Therefore the remaining equipment is all SWM capable. I know as I have read throughout this message board that a SWMline 5 is only available to new installs. If I email the office of the president can I convince them that I need a SWM and I will be patient to get one? I don't think movers will accomodate me. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Its worth a shot but, i would not count on it... also is dependant on if its in your new market yet and do they have techs that know how to install it... good luck tho:hurah:

We recently moved from a non-swm home to a new home in the same city using the movers program and they were supposed to install an swm slimline 3 but the installer gave me some b.s. about my hr-20 not being compatible so he did not install the swm. It didn't really matter to me whether we had the swm and I was not sure at the time he was b.s.ing me so I did not have a problem with him changing the install.

But, if the swm is available in your new location, you should be able to get one with the movers program.

I had 3 co-workers get SWM in this market. I might go to an independent dealer. We shall see. I have a specific need because of my landlord. She is cool with me having Directv but I need SWM so we don't have to add additional lines. I will use a trick I hate to use. I will schedule my movers and email chase.carey@directv.com. I hate to use it because I don't press hard for stuff like this. But I really do need a SWM install. I am going to even mention I will pay for a SWM install. Wish me luck! I will post my solution.

You don't qualify. You have an R15.

But the OP said they were dropping the R15 and the rest of their receivers are SWM capable.

Where in Idaho? If it is the Boise area (or where Boise locals would be provided), your locals will be mpeg4 and you will need Ka capable equipment. If it is northern Idaho, you will probably get Spokane locals. The point is, what equipment you will need may be related to where you are going.

At worst you can buy the SWM LNB and once the dish is up and aligned swap the LNBs.

It's not the ideal way to go but it is an option.

It's also really easy to do because you don't have to deal with aligning the dish.

Just a thought.

That receiver will need to be deactivated at or before the time that the movers install is setup. Otherwise the computer won't allow for a swm.

I am giving up the R15 to get a SWM setup, I only need the R22 and HR21s I already have. I am going to email chase.carey@directv.com to see if the office of president can work with me.

I am going to be in Idaho Falls which does not have locals. I have 3 co workers in this DMA that got SWM line 5 setups. I am going to get an arial off air antenna (or one indoor if that works, I only need locals on one TV, which I need an AM21 anyway).

Thanks RobertE. You are the man. I am going to move in 8 weeks. So I will deactivate the R15 in late January before I attempt movers and if movers will not get me SWMline then I will attempt to email the office of the president. They have helped friends in the past. I have a healthy bill and NFL Sunday ticket customer also. I hope I don't have LOS issues. I will know that when I see the house I am moving to when I see the house in January. I looked at dish pointer and I can put the dish on the north part of the house to clear the peak to get LOS. That is what happened in my current place. Thanks again!

You have to deactivate the R15 prior to placing the "move activity", or you will not qualify.

I am aware of that. I am moving mid Feburary so I will deactivate the R15 about 3rd week of January and call movers on the 25th of January. I will emphasize what I need for my move. Plus I need an off air antenna now because where I move is a really small market. Market 163 to be precise. I should be able to get decent off air but I may have to spend for it. Or try waivers but I know that there is a snowball's chance. O well I digress.
