What causes the keep / delete problem on a recorded program?

I have had this problem on both of my HR21-700's which will not play or resume play of a recorded program. I can watch a recorded program; stop it; and it will not play again until I reset the HR21. In some cases, I try to play the program, and the DVR immediately displays the Delete / Keep message. If I do a reset, I can play or resume play the recorded program.

Have you tried a menu restart?

Menu->Parental, Fav's & Setup->System Setup->Reset->Restart Receiver

Sometimes it can fix this.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, you are correct a reset will correct the problem. I tried your suggested link, but it gives me the following error:
No matches. Click your "back" button or Click Here to return to the main forum listing.

I just wondered why this problem occurs and if there was something I could do to prevent the problem.

Since my search link didn't work I searched on "keep" "delete" & "blank".

This goes back a long time. I haven't seen may postings lately about this.
