"info" screen

My 501 started acting up yesterday, and I'm not quite sure why. You know the "info" screen that pops up when you press the info button on the remote....the one that has the program/channel info, etc?

Well, when I was watching a program yesterday, it just popped up (without me pressing the button)....I cleared it, and it came right back...I kept clearing it, and every time it would come back...sometimes right away, sometimes after 30-45 seconds. I thought maybe the remote button was stuck...so I removed the batteries, and it still was happening. This went on for about 15 minutes before I finally gave up and went outside (which is where I should have been...very nice day in Dallas).

By the time I came back in, the problem had fixed itself...weird.

Any idea what happend??

Dunno, sounds like a random glitch. Have you rebooted your 501 recently? If not, I'd suggest that you do so by holding down the Power button on the front of the 501 until the red light comes on (about 5 seconds or so).

No, havn't rebooted in awhile. I've been lucky the past few months havn't had any real trouble with it....before then, it would stop displaying video (audio and channel info was still there) and I'd have to reboot...or I'd lose local channels....lots of minor problems...

This info screen thing tho had me baffeled....I guess if it keeps it up, I'll reboot the thing see if that helps

You might want to consider changing the remote address there could be a chance one of your neighbors now has Dish Network and your remote address is the same as theirs. :)

I guess that could have its advantages....I could find out what my 80yr old neighbors are watching on Dish :) hahaha
