View Full Version : NEED HELP!! not getting channel 421
Im am in desperate need of some help and Dish Network as put me at my wits end. Here is the problem. I am unable to receive channel 421 ( Cox Sports TV New Orleans). its a regional sports channel but i have the correct package (Americas top 200 + the multi sports channel package) and i live in the area (Harrison County Mississippi) that this channel is supposed to be able to receive this channel.
Dish network has been unable to resolve this issue after numerous attempts and is unable to . I have the ViP722 HDDVR receiver also. Now even though i should be getting this channel it does not show up on my channel guide at all and i also cannot get to it by typing in the channel manually.I am lost on what else to try. Though my signal is low (40%) i get all of the other channels fine which is why i dont think its a problem with the signal.
Should my antenna be aimed in a certain direction to get this channel? Any suggestions you guys have are greatly appreciated. I am about to lose my mind as this channel is the only reason i switched to Dish and I have yet to be able to watch it.
Thanks in advance

Channel 421 is on 110° west orbit, but is on a spot beam. Perhaps someone with the spot beam charts handy can tell you if you live outside the spots.
Press menu 6-1-1 and select 110 west Transponder 12 and tell us what the signal strength is.
Also, if your are on an Eastern Arc setup, 1.4k your not going to be able to receive 110° west on that antenna setup, without adding 110 as a wing.
Your S/N ratio of 40 is what I would expect to see on a 1.4k.
Perhaps you can also press "menu ->6 -> 1 -> 3" and tell us what's listed in rows g and h?

Looks like 421 is DMA specific...

FYI: For 110 TP 12 I see a strength of 32.

If you hit menu-6-1-3, what satellites are listed in box g on the screen that comes up?
Here is a little more information on the carriage agreement.

You are in the dma and you shouldnt have an eastern arc setup(unless you did it yourself)
Try rebooting the receiver.
What signal reading are you getting on sat 110 tp 23,
and on sat 129 tp 8 ?

One more thing. Type your service address into the form at ...
https://customersupport.dishnetwork.com/customernetqual/prepAddress.do
If 421 doesn't show up there online then it won't show on your receiver.
If it does show up online and you have 110 in your system (tune to channel 9900 to see if you have 110) then it should be in your guide. Signal strengths and all that are secondary. Poor signal levels won't keep a subscribed channel out of your guide unless you lose the entire satellite slot and do a check switch with that input missing.
Did some quick zipcode lookups and feed them into Dish Address page.

It looks like anything east of DIAMONDHEAD will not pickup 421.
The Carriage Agreement was within 75 miles of New Orleans. Gulfport is just a tad over that limit.

yes i tried the address lookup and it did not show that channel. I guess im out of luck. I really really wanted this channel though. I will check the other things you guys asked for (signal strength on sat 110, etc) when i get off work this afternoon. man that really sucks. But what pisses me off the most about this situation is that i was lied to over and over throughout this whole process with Dish Network. The customer service has been horrendous. I just wish there was some way to get this channel and i would forget about everything up to this point.
Thanks for the help guys. I appreciate it.

Check the signal strength on the above sats. iF you are alright you might want to "move" to a New orleans address, plus you will also get the new orleans (sd) locals.

Yeah, change that address, then have an issue where a tech needs to come out... :nono2:

You change back before you call for service.Hopefully his dish service isnt that bad that he needs service that often. He was lied to by the csr. He thought he was getting the channel, but he isnt. All he has to do is move about 15miles west to get the channel.
