They don't call me as I have a telemarker block on my phone through Qwest, but salesmen roam the neighborhood on a weekly basis to "talk to me about the cable problems in our area." Once I explain that I have Directv and am happy with it, they usually just back off. I had one particularly bothersome door-to-door guy that even told me that my Ultimatetv receivers would work with Dish Network. I'm sure these guys work for a local dealer and not Dish Network proper.

The marketing campaigns for both DBS providers target cable subscribers rather than each others customers. I think this is true for several reasons. First is that there are many more cable subs in urban areas. Secondly, most DBS subs have already made an investment in equipment and an "informed choice" of how to get their TV. Thirdly, DBS subs tend to be satisified with the service and price.

This may not be true for long as Murdoch may try to compete against Charlie. Charlie had a bounty in the past for DirecTv subscribers but no longer has that bounty. I do not think the U.S. DBS companies want the same thing to happen as what did to the Cadian DBS companies with their bounties against each other, one switching to the other for a while just for a better price for the short term, its like switching customers one for another.

No, but local satellite shops have called me asking me if I wanted a new DirecTV system :)

I've had DirecTV for 4-5 years and no other company has called me to try to get me to switch. They'd probably be wasting their time anyway.

No, but when I was an E* subscriber, I had several calls per week trying to sell me E*!
