Every year for at least the past three years, Dish Network rings in the new year with a retransmission consent dispute.

2006: Lifetime and LMN
2007: CourtTV
2008: Noggin-The N

What will be 2009's big retrans problem? I fear Fisher might not come back for a while due to the fact that they are filing a lawsuit in Oregon. Don't forget WBRZ, too. But if it's a cable channel, what will it be?

For the moment Time Warner appears to be stealing the thunder with a reported dispute with Viacom according to something I read earlier today over on Satellite Guys.

Maybe folks will stop with the "why is it always Dish" if more companies will start playing hardball with every rate increase.

Yes...Time Warner and MTVN are at an impasse.

it will be 3 more Baton Rouge channels. The nbc, fox and cw affiliates will join WBRZ(abc) in being off of dish. That would leave only cbs, and dish will lose a bunch of baton rouge subs to directv, who now has the locals in hd

Yes, it appears that LIL retrans consent is the flavor of 1-1-09.
