Hello. Its been so long since I've been here that I had to re-register!
Does anybody know where there are some very detailed footprint maps for the Dish Network satellites? Mostly I'm looking for just 110 & 119. Just wondering because if playing with it isn't going to get me a stronger signal, why bother?? If its the max I can get there isn't much I can do. I'm only getting 70's on many of the transponders and that's much lower than what most people get. Is something wrong or is just normal for some people to get lower signal strenghth?

You can check out http://wvjw.info/dbs-beam/ spot beams drop off quickly in power when you move out from under them.

How far from the spotbeam can you still get the signal and what size dish would you need? What would the size dish you need in relation to the distance away from the spotbeam?
Also is there any information about where the spotbeams are going to be located on this new satellite they are launching for 121 for the SuperDish?

The 121 dish is not spot beam. All the beams on Ku-FSS are nation wide. The Ka band (not used for DBS) has some spots I believe.

So that means that one could travel across the country while camping and still be able to pick those channels up? This would be a huge benefit for those having their locals added to 121 rather than the Dish500 and is a trade-off for having to get the bigger dish.
Why would Dish not have spotbeams at 121 to squeeze more locals onto the satellite as they did at 110?

121 is a 3 band satellite. It is not all owned by Dish. The Cband will be Telstar. The Ku/Ka by Dish. It is much cheaper to put non spot beams on this bird. A spot beam satellite can cost 2-3x the cost of a normal satellite. If Dish had to do spot beam on 119/110 because the transponders were too valuable and worth the added cost of spot beam. Now Dish does have the option in the future to launch a spot beam satellite in the future for that location. But, I doubt that dish will, since they will be able to do about 150 markets with 121/119/110. It is hard to imagine them paying that much to pick up the last 60 DMAs.
