I think my receiver is dead. Last week I was must have been receiving the software update from DTV. Before I went to bed I put the receiver into standby mode. The next morning couldn't power on the receiver no lights, don't hear hard drive spinning. When I unplug/plug the network port light up for a second. I've tried resetting several times and they tried re-hitting the receiver. It just seem to correlate with this software update DTV was sending. Your help is appreciated.

What is standby mode?
Is that when you push the power button on the receiver and it turns "off"?

Leave it unplugged overnight... and also disconnect the network cable before you plug it back in...

Time for a call to D*. Sounds like the reciever "failed" during the d/l. If you have the PP there will be no charge. If not you will pay the $19.95 shipping charge for the replacement reciever. Make sure they give you atleast an HR22 becuase of the HDD space. If you get an HR21 you may not be happy
