I have a Calvary 1TB external HD connected to a HR21-700 that has been working fine for close to a year.

Lately the video has been skipping/stuttering and freezing up and eventually causing a reboot. When watching live tv, I experience some of the same problems. When I'm watching through the HR21 receiver and not the external HD , I do not have any of these symptoms. I have had my storage space down to 18% in the past and not seen any problems. When I started experiencing these problems I was at around 24% storage. I went ahead and deleted several movies to get my storage space up to 35% remaining, but this did not help. All of these problems started a couple of weeks ago.

I have searched the thread and was wanting to get some of your advice. Is my HD dying or will replacing the esata cable help? I'm assuming a reformat would be my last hope, I'm just hoping there's some other solution.

Thanks,

Chris

After you deleted a bunch of stuff, did you restart the system?
If you haven't, you might try it to see if that makes any difference.

Yes, I had tried to do a restart, but that didn't hlep. I turned the hard drive off overnight and let it cool down and then started it back up today and it has been working fine so far. Do the Calvary drives get too hot? When I felt of the enclosure last night, it felt pretty warm.

Thanks,
Chris
