View Full Version : No sound coming from any channels??
I have no sound for any programs...I just turned everything off and turned it back on but nothing.. I know everything is hooked up properly and i can hear the annoying direct tv sound when u cant push the button anymore but none of the programs have any sound...what could be the problem be
Check your TV remote, NOT the DirecTV remote. Turn the TV off with it's own remote, then back on.....also you may have to hold the volume up depressed for a longer time than normal. Don't know the reason for this, but I've had it happen once or twice during the last year. ;)
no i know the sound is fine..it has to be the receiver or something because i can hear the dun noise that the receiver makes when u press the button to much or cant press it anymore..

You're not the only one having a problem. A friend just called me about his HR21 and he had the EXACT same problem about 15 minutes ago. No audio from any channel SD/HD but system sounds play fine.
Advised him to do a menu reboot...the programming audio came back for him upon reboot of the system.
What's up DTV?

Had the same problem here. I just came back from a run, left the TV on while I was out and came back to no sound. I did a restart and that fixed it.

That sound comes from the Analog Input but is your Dolby Digital On still Selected or Checked? Check and make sure.
How is your Audio Output from the DVR? HDMI? Is the HDMI firmly connected? Do you also have analog audio output from your DVR?

This happened on my HR20-100 yesterday. No sound on any channel at all. I've had the thing lose audio before, but usually only on one channel and a quick rew/ff usually cured it. But it was the first time I've ever had this particular problem. The HR20 is connected to my TV via HDMI. I cycled through the inputs on my TV, back to HDMI #1, and then the sound came back. I guess it needed to redo it's handshake over the HDMI.

Yes, it looked like it lost it's sync.

I just asked my friend who had his audio disappear and he says that he's using only the analog RCA audio jacks. I don't think it losing audio/hdmi sync is the complete answer here.
