Sound lost when I tape and record at the same time!

What I'm trying to do is record a program with my 721 by using it's internal timer and record a program to my VCR at the same time. I do this by leaving the 721 on and tuned to the channel I wish to tape, then programming the 721 the normal way. This should work, but what happens is that I end up with a perfectly good sound and audio tape of the channel that was playing live, but a video-only recording of the program that was captured by the 721. Why should leaving the 721 on result in good video but no sound being captured?

The problem is fixed! It took a bit of searching and experimenting, but it seems that my audio output was reset to "DD Only" by 1.11. Once I reset it to DD/PCM, things returned to normal.
