Hey guys, hopefully you can help me out with a problem I'm having. I recently moved my 4500 receiver to another location (was at home on a dish 500 twin lnbf) and bought an EBay lnbf for the new location. I have a dish 500 sat dish and a twin lnbf that looks to be legacy compatible (number on tag is BS1D1UP201M). When I hooked it up I was unable to get any signal from any sat and when I ran my check switch I received X's at all locations (which I expected) and "no switch box detected". I decided that this problem could be associated with the line (very long run) and decided to pull the lnbf to test it with a 5ft. run of cable and still received "no switch box detected". Now my question is, did someone sell me a bum lnb or is it supposed to return these msg's? I know I have clear line of sight to the sat's and I am using RG6 cabling (Times Fiber Communications, Inc. A division of AMPHENOL) that say 1GHz on the reel. Right now I'm assuming my only way of testing the lnb is putting on my other system (still up and running with a 301 receiver).

If you aren't picking a signal from either 110 or 119 the messages are normal. The receiver can't detect a switch without a signal from the satellite. If there is a large black DP on the twin it isn't a Legacy. Your right the easiest test is substituting the new LNBF for the working old one.

I'm going to try again with it tomorrow, went and purchased a compass today and figured out I was quite a bit off the mark for the sat's (won't attempt a compassless setup again). If all else fails I will try it on my other setup though I'm hoping I won't have to do that since its a bit of a trip to get there. Thanks for telling me the msg's are normal though, you just made this a little bit better day for me.
