Not sure what side bars you were seeing, but according to Wikipedia:


"On October 23, 2008, Multichannel News reported that MSNBC will launch its HD version in the second quarter of 2009."


I didn't see much difference than any other SD network (of course the fact that we're still getting it at 480i doesn't help).

that was the ironic thing.
I was reading the same thing about when it was supposed to go hi-def.

I left the house for a while, turned both tvs on, and there were suddenly sidebars on both TVs.

My Sony always tells me the format of whatever the source is. It said 1080i: HD. Even on my SD TV, the sidebars were there. It is set to 480i.

I'll probably turn on the channel later today, and all will be SD again.

my dumb mistake. I was messing with the format, and that's what screwed things up.
