View Full Version : Do the cables make a difference?

I ordered RCA cables (yellow, red/white) and monoprice sent me hi-def cables (blue, green, red). I'm wondering: does it really matter? Could I use the component cables? Does the cable itself matter?

IMHO, if it's a short run the no. I've gone the other way on short runs and used red/white/yellow cables on a component hookup and no problems that I could see.

Not in this situation. You'll get better performance if anything.

Where cables matter is when you are pushing the length of the technology or in ugly environments with lots of electical noise.

Cheers,

On a lighter note, with analog connections a bit heavier conductor and sheilding wouldn't make the picture any worse.....

But then again if he invests in a product from a goblin of a company he could help the CEO buy another Enzo to crash in Santa Barbara.

It will only matter if you're using the component connections on the devices.
Otherwise, it's not likely that you'll see any difference.

High def cables only make a difference if your tranmission is High Def... surprisingly it does matter with high def products. sSnce your go'n rca jacks, your likely analog, that won't make any difference. Analog is analog.. Companies displlay high def sometimes as just as a marketing scheme. If yur system is SPDIF, then it will but if those jacks r the ole form of output, RCA Jacks.. Nope!
