I just received a newsletter regarding CricketTicket 2009 starting February 25, 2009 and mentions new programming UTV Movies on HindiDirect. The rest of the tours are either confirmed, speculated or pending an cricket board decision.

Key: Listings in Blue are exclusive to DirecTV's CricketTicket ch. 477-479 and 2027-2029 or CricketPlus Ch. 2024. Listings in Red are exclusive to DISH Network's Zee Sports Americas Ch. 576 or PPV ch. 457. Listings in Purple are on CricketPlus and Zee Sports Americas. Listings in orange are broadband. Listings in black are blackouts apply.

DirecTV has slashed $299 for the half-season price of $149 from August 18, 2009-February 28, 2010.
Zee Sports Americas is $249.99/year, renewal is every October.

This is the most ridiculous package, I ever saw from DirectTV. I was thinking of buying Cricket Ticket but this is too expensive. They should cut down at least 100$.

Also, Their Hindi Package sucks big time........Star Plus and Star One , they already show on Dish NetWork ...That Leaves only NDTV and MTV and for two channels they charge 30 bucks...........I mean Price is fine..but show more channels like NDTV Imagine or COLORS etc..........

DirectTV sucks big time.............................................. .

Also, Why they are not updating their website with this new announcements.......

Directv had the STAR network before DISH did. They are working on making their offerings more competitive by adding Aastha and UTV Movies to the hindidirect package. Cricketplus (although not a great channel) is still provided so that one can watch reruns of cricket matches. I would say Directv is quite ok when it comes to their offerings. Can they improve even more? Sure.They were missing a movie channel and utv movies should hopefully help with that. Now if only MTV starts showing more songs rather than useless roadies, etc....
Also about CricketTicket, you will notice that this year they have merged the ICC tournaments and IPL into the package. Previously you had to buy IPL and iCC tournaments separately.

So does that mean that Cricket Ticket won't be broadcasting the 2009 Ashes series?

Does Zee Sports America have the exclusive broadcast rights or will Cricket Ticket also have the rights?

Cheers,

DISH has exclusive rights to England home matches through 2010, I believe, and that includes the next Ashes series this summer. DirecTV won't have any way to show those matches.

Your best option (short of switching to DISH) is to watch Zee Sports America online.

The tour match contracts are negotiated with each Test/ODI country for matches hosted by that country's team. (I phrase it in that fashion because the "host" country retains the broadcast rights even if the matches are held at a neutral venue, I believe.) Currently the England-hosted tours contract is held by DISH/Zee Sports America, which also holds the contracts for India, Pakistan. DirecTV holds the contracts for Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. I believe DirecTV also holds the rights to matches from Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and the West Indies, although not all of the tours to these locales have been broadcast on DirecTV.

ICC tournaments and the IPL have separate contracts and have been available on both DISH and DirecTV.

I am a bit surprised at the dearth of tours included and with the inclusion of the IPL, the T20 WC, the T20 Champions League, and the Champions Trophy. These had all previously been set up as extra purchases. $299 might be worth it if you planned to purchase and watch all these extra tournaments, but some, like the Champions League, have dealt with postponements. Personally, I'd like to see some of the tours marked as "regional" to be included.

So, to answer your original question, the Ashes are not likely to be seen on DirecTV.

Oh great... So if you're an Australian Cricket Fan living in the US, you have to subscribe to Dish Network for the 2009 Ashes series and India tours and then in December switch to Direct TV for the Australian domestic season???

That's so annoying!!!! :mad:

Okay...I am cricket crazy maniac...and I have both DISH and DIRECTTV..so that I do not miss a single series....................

My Cost to Watch : ASHES/ Australia's Tour of India /West Indies tour of England and Sri Lanka's Tour of India would be not more than 120$ (6 months of subscription of Zee Sports America).

Okay..Compare that with the ****ty package that DirectTV Offers...and kind of series they are offering with money.......Does not make sense unless they change the package prices too 149$

Now they can remove IPL and 20-20 World Cup from Package that they are offering (that leaves with with India's tour of New Zealand and Pakistan's tour of Australia :) )..........

OK, so the problem is that you either go on a 2 year contract or pay a massive premium for either Dish or Direct... Not much good if you want to watch the Ashes and India tour on Dish and then switch to Direct TV for the Australian domestic season.

Can you imagine if they made you switch providers for every NFL game depending on their home and away schedule??? What a joke!

Has anybody had any experience with Willow.tv?

Why are you calling DirecTV "idiots", "morons", and "bastards"? What they do and don’t have the rights to limits them.

The structure of the broadcasting of cricket has evolved as follows: the rights to international broadcast are owned by the governing body in the home country. The next Ashes series is in England - therefore, the English Cricket Board and its agents held the rights. They chose, a few years ago, to sell the US distribution exclusively to DISH for a multi-year period. I'm sure DirecTV wanted those rights, they just didn't win them. There's nothing that can be done about that now. The same type of scenario has played out for all of the major test-playing nations.

As it has turned out, DISH got exclusive North American rights for matches played in England, India and Pakistan, while DirecTV got the same thing for Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and South Africa.

For Benny04's sake, that is not good news for 2009. DISH has the rights to the summer Ashes series, while DirecTV has the rights to the Australian domestic season. Actually, most of DirecTV's contracts expire sometime during 2009, so the reason the new Cricket Ticket package has alot of questions surrounding it is probably due to the fact that those rights are still being negotiated. And given the current economic conditions, the cricket governing bodies probably don't want to negotiate any long-term deals right now, since those asset values would be fairly low. So, I would expect that many broadcast deals will most likely be decided at the last minute, if not on a tour-by-tour basis, until the economy stabilizes.

As far as DirecTV's proposed $299 package goes, they are simply trying to bundle things to give subscribers a discount for the whole season. And given the explosion in "franchise" cricket (IPL, Champions League, etc.) they are merely trying to price them so they can recoup the huge rights fees that the BCCI (India's governing body for cricket) and ICC demanded. If you don't want all the series, than just buy on a tour-by-tour basis.

Is it frustrating at times? Certainly. But DirecTV didn't cause this. They are just working under the constraints of the system that evolved into this. And frankly, the cricket-viewing population in the US isn't large enough where they are going to care if this causes annoyance to us here. Benny, when the NFL sold its' last TV contract, it put games on CBS and FOX, precisely based on who is home and away. That’s not a big deal to us here in the US because we get both channels. But for people who may only get one of those two networks overseas, it is exactly the same thing.

Finally, Zee Sports America is not available via DirecTV. Again, I’m sure DirecTV would love to offer it, but they haven’t obtained the rights to show it yet. Right now, it is a DISH-only channel. The only way I know of to get it is to subscribe online via willow.tv. And to reply to Benny04's other question, yes, I have watched Zee Sports via willow.tv and have generally been pleased with their offering. In fact, I expect I'll be watching it this summer for the Ashes.

Here are the Reasons:

1) Business wise, What exactly made them take a decision to raise the price from 149$ (that they offered) in 2008 to 299$ for 2009 ....In the Toughest Economy Time.

2) Lets say, Biggest Catch for them is Indian Audience, and IPL but they dont have exclusive rights for IPL. Also, For Indian Fans (I am one of them), biggest bet was to buy CricketTicket 2007 because, that had India's Tour of Australia...neways...IPL is open for Dish Viewers as well...So Why Would anyone choose DirectTV over Dish.

3) Not Only for Cricket Package, DirectTV Sucks but also for South Asian Programming. Dish Offers 12 of the best channels while DirectTV offers only 4 different channel compared to what the Indian Audience might get for Dish TV. Naturally, if given a choice , They would go for Dish TV for South Asian Programming over DirectTV ...and for Cricket Needs..since India's rights are with Dish TV and Zee Sports America is also being telecast in Dish TV, They would not have any motivation to go for DirectTV.

4) Lets just say, for Non-Indian (Sub Continent Audience)....They do not have rights for Pakistan's and not all tours of Sri Lanka...So For Example: Current Series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan is not there in DirectTV, and so is when India would be touring to Sri Lanka.

5) They are going to offer this Cricket Ticket 2009 in March but they are not advertising on their website and we are almost finishing January? MAy I Know Why? Because, DirectTV Sucks.

6) In This Tough Economy Times, they need to reduce the price so that, more customers can think of buying it, Instead they double the price :) What an Idea :)

7) If I would be in charge of DirectTV Cricket Ticket, I would have even gave Free To Air for couple of on going series between Australia and South Africa and Australia Vs NewZeland to promote Cricket viewers in USA. (Who knows..that might lead me to few more customers.

8) I would cut down, the package price to half and exclude IPL from it. Bottom Line, Package would sound same 149$ ..but most viewers who want IPL Access are going to pay 99$ so they would give them 250$ but how does 149$ sounds compared to 299$ and How many more customers it could have brought.

9) DirectTV Customer Service rates best in the business , you know why........Because, Most of the Time People are calling Customer Service and telling them millions of problems they face in receiving services...

I don't really want to keep going back and forth on this, so at some point we're going to have to agree to disagree. It is clear that for your interests, DISH is better for you. That's fine. I just don't understand why you have to say that DirecTV sucks. DirecTV didn't claim they had India or Pakistan home matches, so they haven't been dishonest. To knowledgeable fans, it is clear that DISH had those rights. But the risk one takes is that the next time the various contracts roll around, they could switch hands. Is it frustrating? Yes. But as I said before, that is the broadcast framework under which both DISH and DirecTV are forced to operate.

You mentioned three times that the price is too high. I don’t run the company, but I’m sure they are pricing it where they believe they are maximizing revenue. As a customer, you either buy it or not. If one wants, one can buy series-to-series. But comparing the 2008 price to that for 2009 is absurd. The 2008 price was so low because there were very few series available. It was the leanest schedule in the history of the Cricket Ticket package, merely because of the locations of the matches. Also, the 2008 package did not include the IPL and ICC events. The 2009 package does. You have to compare apples to apples, and just saying the 2009 price is double the 2008 price makes no sense.

The only point I will agree with you on is that they don't promote cricket enough or early enough. And it is frustrating that I always know more than the CSRs do. But one has to understand, cricket has so few fans in the US. I would love for them to promote it more with giveaways and the like, but I have talked to DirecTV managers who say they have done all those things and it doesn't help. So DirecTV uses their resources in other places.

Listen, if you want to complain, it's your right. But I want others to understand that much of what you are unhappy about is based on things that are either driven by your preference or are largely outside of DirecTV's control. At the end of the day, each customer has to choose whether they want the Cricket package or not, or if they are going to change providers. But don't be surprised if DirecTV makes a big play for both the England and India home matches when those deals are up for renegotiation.

Listen Mate,

I do not hate DirectTV. I do not want them to lie for the packages that are not available. But They need to know before hand, whether they are going to show it or not. Its simple Deal. Yes Or No.

Also, Whatever they have Market it better. Show some Free Cricket? Modify Package so that It looks attractive, I already gave my suggestion. Bottom Line is: Some Stupid CEO or Manager who is making a decision clearly does not care about the Customers. I guess that is American policy..You wanna take it, Take it or Leave it.

Cricket Viewers are not American Viewers. You need to understand how "Rest of the World" think when you are selling something which "Rest of the World Watches".

Enough Said...Peace Bro.

Having two providers offer cricket has been great for cricket fans. I have been a DirecTV sub because I also subscribe to the NFL package and would not switch away from that or also get DISH just for cricket. Before DirecTV started offering cricket, DISH was charging an arm and a leg just for single tour packages. When DirecTV started offering cricket, DISH's packages almost immediately became more affordable. (You are welcome!) Sure it would be great if all series were available on both providers for a low price, but I appreciate what is available. Also, DISH usually offered packages around the South Asian sides. DirecTV's contracts with cricket boards outside that area were appreciated by cricket fans with other rooting interests, like me. (This was one of the best things to come out of the Rupert Murdoch ownership period of DirecTV.)

I agree that the price for CT'09 is steep. I am considering not purchasing the package this year. If you feel you have to have access to every match and think it is someone else's fault that you have to spend that much money, sorry if I sound like a shrink here, perhaps a little self reflection is in order. I love cricket. I just don't let it run my life.

mike,

Series that take place in the West Indies are kind of tricky, because the WICB has not to my knowledge signed a long-term US TV distribution deal with either provider. Also, the WICB has so many other sponsorship issues to deal with, that they may not be anywhere close to figuring out what they intend to do.

With a series as lucrative as a visit from England, I am sure it will be on TV in the US somewhere, I just don't think it has been determined yet. And it may not be made known until weeks or even days before the start of play.

Sorry for the lack of info.

Let's look at the Test playing nations and their issues:

Australia: Pretty stable, TV contract regularly showing tours;
New Zealand: Pretty stable, TV contract regularly showing major tours, some minor tours may have been skipped, if I recall;
Bangladesh: Minor Test player; usually gets tours televised if big visitor is coming;
India: Board has its squabbles which can results in uncertainty to TV contracts at times, but is recognized big draw, both live and TV;
Pakistan: Board stability improving; visitors canceling tours, making TV there iffy;
Sri Lanka: Board needs more stability; TV contract more often miss than hit;
South Africa: Stable board, TV contract regularly showing major tours, some minor tours may have been skipped, if I recall;
Zimbabwe: Government is a mess; many major teams canceling tours based on politics;
England: Pretty stable, TV contract regularly showing tours;
West Indies: Board needs more stability; TV contract more often hit than miss.

Your thoughts?

From today's "Morning Bridge" E-newsletter:

"DIRECTV has entered into a pair of multi-year deals for exclusive broadcast rights to International Cricket Council tournaments, Indian Premier League tournaments, Champions League Twenty20, Australian cricket, South African cricket, New Zealand cricket and other major cricket events. The content will be available via DIRECTV's CricketTicket programming package."

Looks to me like DirecTV re-upped for more of what it already had with respect to home matches on Australia, NZ and South African soil. I am surprised that it mentions "exclusive rights" for ICC and IPL events. My guess is that is sloppy copy writing, rather than the fact that DIrecTV has gotten those events off DISH. No mention of Sri Lanka matches, either, which were generally on DirecTV as well.

It appears I was wrong about the exclusivety part. I just noticed this press release, posted on DIrecTV's web site this morning.

This is not good news for DISH subscribers who like cricket:

DIRECTV Secures Exclusive Broadcast Rights for All International Cricket Council (ICC) and Indian Premier League (IPL) Cricket Tournaments

DIRECTV, Inc., the nation's leading satellite TV service provider, and Willow TV, Inc., the Internet's largest portal for cricket streaming video, have entered into multi-year agreements that give DIRECTV broadcast rights for International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments, Indian Premier League (IPL) tournaments, Champions League Twenty20, Australian cricket, South African cricket, New Zealand cricket and other major cricket events. These rights include events such as the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 in England, the 2009/10 IPL tournaments, the 2009 India tour of New Zealand and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

"DIRECTV is proud to partner with Willow TV and the world's top cricket tournaments to offer U.S. cricket fans this exclusive lineup of exciting cricket events and the new Twenty 20 format, which is revolutionizing the sport," said John de Armas, vice president, WorldDirect, Inc. "Now cricket fans in the U.S. can turn to DIRECTV exclusively to satisfy their hunger for this exciting international sport and watch the thrill of the game in 100% digital image and sound."

Beginning Feb. 11, ICC and IPL cricket tours will be available to U.S. audiences, exclusively on DIRECTV's CricketTicket(TM) 2009 package. CricketTicket is part of the WorldDirect(TM) programming platform and is available for $299.99 for the full season, or the IPL & ICC World T20 package can be purchased for $199.99. ......

Hi,

I recently switched to DirecTV and I am very interested in getting the 2009 CricketTicket. I called today to enquire from DirecTV what I needed and was upset to find out that they require me to subscribe to some international channel before I can order the CricketTicket.

They told me I would have to pay $20 for the second Dish and then there was some Phillipino $5/mo. international channel that was their cheapest option.

I currently have Choice HDDVR Xtra with the 5 lnb dish.

If this is true then getting the CricketTicket is going to cost me $299 + (12 * $5) + $20 (install) = $379 for the first year! Having to pay $5/mo. for a channel I'll never watch is very frustrating and I'm surprised they can force it upon me like this.

Please could someone clarify this for me?

Thanks!

Perhaps DirecTV should have done a Lite package?

DirecTV does have Aastha which is nice Hindu/spiritual network, though Dish has more general entertainment channels (Zee, SONY, Sahara and the Stars). Don't really don't know much about India Now on DirecTV. Can't find information on the shows that they air.

Both Dish and DirecTV overcharge a bit for the movie channels, though Dish started the high price trend:
like $19.99 for Zee Cinema, SET Movies, or Filmy (DirecTV). Should be priced around $14.99, and a $10 add on to a base package on Dish. On Fios, all three Zee, SONY and TV Asia are for $14.99. Dish was charging $34.99. Case of overcharging. With these channels including any sports packages, Im sure Dish and DirecTV figure there is a group of customers that have the money and aren't price sensitive.

Cricket is a religion , my friend. Dont Blame the Religion or Messengers of GOD :) ........There is no channel for FOOTBALL (I mean soccer)....There is no channel for Field Hockey........If the Sport which is being played by all across the globe..(WORLD).......you can never get telecast rights of all the countries....However the way, it should be is that when the Cricket Board sells the Rights, it should be for Home and Away Games..For Example: Australian Board..should control the games which they play..so that..if DirectTV gets the rights...It should get the rights of all the games Australia is going to play.......It is not that difficult actually..if everyone understands the simple Logic.....But Again....No One Cares about the FANS....Neither the Cricket Boards..Neither the Country......Neither the Dish .....Neither the DirectTV.........

I was just making the point that you made an incorrect staterment: (There is no channel for FOOTBALL (I mean soccer)....)

Stop talking like it would be the hardest thing in the world for crickets governing bodies to get together and split the cost of a USA based Cricket Channel. Seems like an obvious solution to me, given the fact I can't even pay to watch England-West Indies despite the fact I'm desperate to.

Did you call and lock it in at that price? I suspect that the $149 was left over from the 2008 CT and DirecTV forgot to update that part and if you call in, the rep may quote the $299 price. I am in at $149; still on the fence at $299.

The Ashes are on Zee Sports Americas see http://www.dishnetwork.com/cricket The Ashes in 2005 and 2006-07 was carried on CricketTicket. However England's home games was picked up by DISH Network in early 2006. The broadcast contract for DISH on England home games will end, after the Australia tour of England is over.

India home games contract ends for DISH when South Africa tour of India ends in March 2010.

See changes on post 1 in this thread. Since India is traveling to the Carribbean, I saw on my EPG, Zee Sports Americas has picked up all 4 ODI's for India tour of West Indies. Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan, Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh and India tour of Sri Lanka were all blackout on both DBS in the United States. Most of the tours carried on Sri Lanka local channel, Channel EYE had wall-to-wall ads targeting their youth to sign up to their army. Also Sri Lanka Cricket games contract was also expiring that contributed to the blackout for some areas.

Mostly Sri Lanka home games are Exclusive to TEN Sports. It's up to either CricketTicket or CricketPlus to show. You can say blackout again! :lol:

If the Tri-Series is covered, it is a blockbuster match up basis. The Global (Eastern Hemisphere) rights are with TEN Sports, the feed for UK is on Zee Cinema, for NZ is on Sky Sport.

DirecTV never renewed it's contract with Sri Lanka Cricket because of the high Sri Lanka Rupees it would get. Not with Bangladesh Cricket due to it's low Test ranking. Didn't sign with Zimbabwe Cricket due to the high Zimbabwe Dollars it would get.

DISH Network never renewed it's contract with Pakistan Cricket because of the high Pakistan Rupees it would get. No news with England Cricket because DISH Network doesn't have buying power.

ICC Champions Trophy is exclusively on DirecTV. No longer covered by DISH Network.

The only major country rights that DirecTV does not have is England. Last time India toured there, it was carried by DISH and not by DirecTV.
I think DirecTV defaults to showing matches on CricketPlus that it gets rights to on an ad-hoc basis e.g. India-WI ODIs and Bangladesh-Zimbabwe ODIs.
I am surprised that the current NZ-SL series is not being shown on DirecTV (atleast I did not see it on the EPG).

That said, it is beginning to look like DirecTV is out-muscling DISH from the cricket front. The only major draws left with DISH are games in Eng (especially the Ashes) and the India home games. Most of everything else is with DirecTV. With the ICL almost dead, looks like DirecTV will be the best option for cricket for some time to come.

England cricket at one time was carried by DirecTV. Ashes 2005 was a memorable one.

Sri Lanka Cricket raised their price that's why India's tour of Sri Lanka in January was not on. Since a contract wasn't renewed, Nimbus Sport never showed it on DISH Network.

I anticipate that the bids for India cricket home games should go to DirecTV in March 2010. DISH has been losing customers, money and legal matters. I look forward for the defecting customers.

Limited viewership means less people to share the expenses. If you like Cricket then the price is not all that bad, for the other 99% of us in the USA this is a non issue.

BREAKING NEWS: Zee Sports America Will Continue to Show Indian Home Game from 2010 to 2014.

That is not correct. Remember when TEN Sports acquired the rights to Sri Lanka and Pakistan home games, DirecTV never telecast Sri Lanka home games. DISH Network didn't carried any game from Pakistan, when they let the criminals run the asylum.

The news is for Nimbus Communications to telecast for NEO Cricket in India, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. Excludes internet, radio and international rights. April 1, 2010-March 31, 2014. Rs 31.25 crore (approximately $6.6 million) per match, whether a Test, ODI or Twenty20, and is conditional on Nimbus furnishing a bank guarantee by January 15 of Rs 2000 crore.

Internet, radio and International rights will be made public, couple of weeks from news that took place on October 20, 2009. No news yet for the United States rights to England Cricket, Pakistan cricket and Indian cricket. There's no rights to these games, could be per match basis.

Is DirecTV's coverage in Widescreen? I know the Sky Sports feed I watch are widescreen and I hate when they don't use it.

There's probably some old threads on that topic. Depending on the original broadcaster's feed (and perhaps who is working the D* control room), you might get a wide screen feed that has been compressed to a 4:3 aspect, making for some skinny people on screen. If you stretch it onto your 16:9 screen, you might get a decent widescreen view, but it will likely depend on how your hardware restretches the picture. If it uses a different stretching algorithm than how it was compressed, you could get some distortions.

Sometimes you will get a straight 4:3 feed. Generally, D* does not send CT feeds in 16:9 format, although they had some matches in HD earlier this year..

I, too, am anxious to see what the 2010 package will include. However I don't expect to learn anything until the end of this month. Cricket Ticket 2009 includes two of the three major series going on in February (West Indies ODI series in Australia and Bangladesh in NZ). The SA tour of India was never going to be on DirecTV, given India's exclusive deal with Dish.

Actually, the only major cricket series that we are "in the dark" about is the Australia visit to New Zealand in March. I would be surprised if that wasn't on DirecTV, given the long-standing relationship DirecTV has had with NZ cricket. However, I think the original contracts signed in 2006 by DirecTV with Aus, SA and NZ all ran out this year, so my guess is that new deals are being worked on.

The other big events are the IPL and ICC Twenty20 Championship, and both of those are exclusively on DirecTV as part of a multi-year deal signed last year, I believe. And we know England's visit to Bangladesh is exclusively on the ESPN360.com service on line.

The main question I have in the first half of 2010 is whether there will be any television coverage of South Africa's tour of the West Indies in May and Jun

Dave151

I didn't remember the terms of the IPL and ICC exclusivity deals with DirecTV, so I went back to the January 2009 press release. It doesn't state the length of the agreement, but it did answer my question about whether deals with Australia, NZ and South Africa had been done.

With England and India signed with Dish, the only main question is where Sri Lanka and West Indies matches will be broadcast here in the US.

DIRECTV Secures Exclusive Broadcast Rights for Select Cricket Events

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Jan. 28, 2009 — DIRECTV, Inc., the nation's leading satellite TV service provider, and Willow TV, Inc., the Internet's largest portal for cricket streaming video, have entered into multi-year agreements that give DIRECTV broadcast rights for International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments, Indian Premier League (IPL) tournaments, Champions League Twenty20, Australian cricket, South African cricket, New Zealand cricket and other major cricket events.

11, ICC and IPL cricket tours will be available to U.S. audiences, exclusively on DIRECTV's CricketTicket™ 2009 package.

Dave151

The international CSR I spoke with today indicated that information about Cricket Ticket 2010 would probably be released about the third week in February. He anticipated that the price and time frame would be pretty much like last year ($299 full season cost, with the season running from March 1st to the end of February 2011). He said they are still working out the details of the specific tours that would be included.

Looking at the ICC Future Tours schedule, my guess is that the DirecTV package would at least include:

Australia in NZ:Mar 2010
IPL:Mar-Apr 2010
ICC Twenty20 Championship:May 2010
Eng in Australia (The Ashes):Nov-Dec 2010
India in SA: Dec 2010-Jan 2011

Why Cricket is not being telecast in HD? So far only 20/20 Worldcup done in England was telecasted in HD. I wonder why matches in Australia or New Zealand or South Africa are not being telecasted in DirectTV in HD Format?
