no longer able to record to dvd

recently i have not been able to record form the hr20-700 to my dvd recorder. i get an error message saying protected content. this has not been the case in the past. is this due to a software update from directv ?

what are you trying to record. I have no issues with d11-500 hooked up to my computer.
