View Full Version : Moved DirecTV HDTV to new room, why no HD?
Hi,
We have a 32" Sony Bravia HD LCD with an HD Tivo. Had the two paired together in living room attached to DirecTV dish. Looked great, no problems. Got a new larger Sony HD LCD to replace it, and moved the 32" up to bedroom, which replaced an old Sony CRT. Hooked up the 32" HD Sony TV & HD Tivo to existing DirecTV cables upstairs, using same dish, but can't get HD. What am I missing?
Thanks so much for the help!

I'm not sure if this will work for you. I had the reverse problem. I moved my HD Tivo down stairs to an older crt. I could'nt get a picture at all until i changed the resolution on the front of the tivo. Maybe it got changed during the move?
That was a good notion, but I just checked and the resolution is set to 1080i. Thanks for your reply, though :)

A littile clarification needed..
No HD? Do you mean you get a picture but it's not in HD.. Or do you mean that the HD channels arn't there at all.. As in Searching for signal or something.

So, you have an HR10-250 DirecTV HD Tivo, correct? The most likely reason you wouldn't get HD in the other room is if, say, you have 2 lines running directly to the dish where it worked, while the other rooms are running through a 3x4 multiswitch, which only passes the 101 satellite signal, which is SD only.
In any event, you'd be doing yourself a big favor by calling DirecTV and letting them give you a free upgrade to a modern, MPEG4-capable DVR. It won't be TiVo, but the few MPEG2 HD channels your TiVo gets are being shut off, and soon you'll get no HD at all unless you upgrade.
