Its a very basic satellite receiver (for which you would put in a kids room or something) it has no bells or whistles its just a satellite receiver.

It also has no smart card meaning that the security is now built on the main board of the unit.

It also appears to have no S-Video port (a first for Dish?) and only a mono out for sound.

In other words, it looks a bit like a Comcast box. :p

I think this along with the 311 will be the replacement to the current 301. They have more security and more advanced. Does anyone know if the new 811 (the 6000 replacement) is going to have the smartcard chip built into the board? If that and the 921 and the other receivers they are coming out are not going to have the smartcard chip built onto the board then how come are the cheaper models going to have it done that way? Is it due to the fact that they may have already produced the receivers to take a smartcard?

From Dish Retailer

"This is basically your standard 301 receiver. Its got more memory to speed up the guide and eliminate the "Retrieving program information" messgae when you go the EPG. In addition, its got an integrated Smart Card. This means that there is no physical smart card with this unit, its actually integrated as part of the circut board. There still is a slot for a regular smart card, incase Dish wanted to upgrade the security on the receiver"
