It's uplinked now ("warming up") ... Not available to "mere mortals" yet...
But a good sign that it will become available to Subscribers next (or in a near future, at the least)

No Jackson, MS(JAN) (I live in a suburban area of JAN) is still here. We did not have any Tornado's THIS TIME. We were hit BAD by an F3 (Brandon, MS... where I live) about a week and a half ago). Not much rain either. Any more info on Jackson locals????? I want to tell my local cable $%*@ off for what they charge me for my basic tier (15.00 for 12 channels) that I pay for locals. I have been a DISH customer for 3 years and LOVE IT. I also have been an extremely happy 721 owner since lasts summer (I want to replace my ageing 5000 in the master BR with another 721!).

McAllen,

Jackson Mississippi is indeed uplinked now (ABC,CBS,NBC and PBS) There is no Fox affiliate in that market. The WB affiliate owns the low power UPN affiliate and is demanding that Dish carry the LP channel. Dish said no, the WB affiliate said "then you can't carry us either" and Dish said okay.

See ya

Saw this Pegasus Press Release regarding the WB and UPN flap in Jackson (very interesting):

Pegasus Communications Corporation Announces Sale Of TV Stations WDBD And WXMS Serving Jackson, Mississippi And Sale Of Construction Permit
Pegasus Also Announces New Affiliation Agreements With FOX Broadcasting Company
BALA CYNWYD PA, April 10, 2003 - Pegasus Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: PGTV) announced today that that it has signed a definitive agreement to sell WDBD-TV and WXMS-LP (Jackson, MS) to Jackson Television, LLC for $13.4 million in cash. $10.4 million of the purchase price will be received upon the sale of stations’ assets other than their FCC licenses. It is anticipated that the sale of the non-FCC assets will occur by early May. The remainder of the sale price will be received upon the transfer of the stations’ FCC licenses to the buyer. The sale is contingent upon conditions typical of sales of this nature, including approval by the Federal Communications Commission of the transfer of the stations’ broadcast licenses to the buyer. Pending transfer of the broadcast licenses, the buyer will operate the stations pursuant to a local marketing agreement with Pegasus.

In an agreement entered into concurrently with Pegasus’ agreement to sell WDBD-TV/WXMS-LP, KB Prime Media, LLC has agreed to sell its construction permit for the construction of a new television station, Channel 35, Vicksburg, MS, and related assets, and Pegasus Satellite Communications, Inc. (PSC) has agreed to waive its option to acquire and permit the sale of Channel 35 to Mississippi Television, LLC for aggregate consideration of $4.1 million. KB holds a number of television station licenses and permits. PSC has the exclusive option to acquire all of KB’s stations and permits. As a result of the sale, PSC will benefit immediately from the sale by receiving approximately $1.4 million in cash from the buyer and will also be able to reduce certain bank guarantees in an amount equal to approximately $2.7 million. The sale is contingent upon conditions typical of sales of this nature, including approval by the Federal Communications Commission.

Pegasus also announced today that it has signed new affiliation agreements with FOX Broadcasting Company, a subsidiary of The News Corporation Limited, for its three FOX network affiliated television stations: WOLF-TV (Wilkes Barre-Scranton, PA); WDSI-TV (Chattanooga, TN); and WTLH-TV (Tallahassee, FL). These television stations had been operating as FOX affiliates since 1999 under expired affiliation agreements. The new affiliation agreements have initial terms that expire on June 30, 2005.

Glad to be a member, Darkman. It's good to be able to get this kind of information regarding what is happening in the world of DBS.

Is it always the position of E* to not allow low power stations to be uplinked in a DMA? I mean, for crying out loud, WXMS-LP is a UPN affiliate. I could understand if it was like all the other low power stations in this state with "no-name" network affiliations. Since the cable companies in the Greater Jackson area carry WB and UPN, why would E* be so hard-headed and potentially alienate some potential customers? Isn't Charlie's goal to keep ahead of DirecTV?

As to FOX, since the tower for WNTZ (FOX) is being relocated almost 50 miles south of Jackson, MS proper, I figure that they will have no problem granting the retransmission agreement with E* when the new "Jackson" Mississippi tower goes live this summer. As long as they keep giving me FOX Atlanta in the meantime, I am OK.

Does anyone know what the channel lineup for Jackson, MS will look like on D*? Just "wondering" if Murdoch and the crew will get WB/UPN retrans. rights here?

The rollout on Jackson, MS locals maybe tomorrow. D* is supposedly releasing the locals on Wednesday, so a E* CS rep says to check Tuesday, they may be available.

The D* information comes from a girl working for a E* reseller.

Time to pack up the rabbit ears and return to Wal-Mart.

The channels are "technically" available now. The CSRs may not have access to the package to throw the switch right now, but try about 8am local time. If you can't get them then, try again at about 5pm. If not...it's Wednesday! :D

See ya

GOT 'EM NOW!! Now I can call the cable co. and tell them to turn off their Lower tier that I pay almost $15.00 a month for JUST TO get the network affiliates and PBS. I haven't watched WDBD much since they switched from FOX to WB and I almost never watch UPN. I see folks complaining about poor signal on locals off SAT, but mine are as good if not better than what I got off cable AND they show up as the correct channels on my PVR721 AND I can (or rather my wife, she never let's me use the 721, lol) now record LOCALS..... YEAY.
