The night before last we had -27 F, last night -22 F. On both evenings, several channels were lost and several others pixellated badly. Others continued to work just fine. This symptom showed up on 3 different receivers that use the ATU9 dish. As soon as the temp hit -9 on the rebound, everything returned to normal.

We don't get these temps very often, so it's no biggie, but I'm thinking new dish (SWM) and LNBs in the spring might solve the problem. (I need one more sat output to my HT room, so SWM is the only way to go.) Looks like I could solve two problems for the price of one by making the change. I knew the protection plan would be good for something sooner or later.:)

Interesting. We too have had it super cold the past couple of nights, last night especially, but fortunately we haven't lost any channels or had other problems. Last spring I did have my LNB replaced.

There's a thread about this here: http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=147672
Eagle/Aspen and SWM8s don't seem to have a problem but WNCs do @ -5 degrees.

hasan,

It got really cold here last night (low 50s)...signal reception held out pretty well though. ;).

Seriously, could it be a connection somewhere rather than the LNBs?

AU9 here. It's a warm 18°. :)

Just checked. 101° TP#1 at 97. LiL 99(s) TP#16&20 at 100.

I had a similar problem with my AU9 when there was a rapid temp change in the fall/winter. Since having the dish replaced with a SL3 no problems at all. -21 here last night.

Sure...it would have to be expansion/contraction based, as it was very predictable on both nights/mornings. When it warms up, I'll check my connections (probably not until spring, because if it only is going to show at less than -20 F, we shouldn't have that very often (it's been over 3 years since we exceeded -15 F, and that was only for a few hours) The high the day before yesterday was -8.:)

btw...feel free to rub it in, Ken.
