I just got an Apple T.V and am loving it. Just wondering if anyone else has purchased one and if there is any add ons that anyone has found that would make it more enjoyable?

I love my ATV.

When it was first announced, I thought it was rather pointless. Buying downloads from the iTunes store was not enough to sell me.

Then I realized that I could load all of my British mystery TV shows, and sit down to a mystery weekend without having to load any DVDs. I must have over 300 episodes at my fingertips (all DVDs that I have purchased, by the way). I recommend streaming, rather than waiting forever for the content to be synced to the ATV hard drive.

The down side is that, out of the box, the ATV requires videos in mp4 format, so that takes a LOT of time to convert the DVDs to mp4 files (I use Handbrake). But once you've done that, you have content of quite reasonable quality, from your entire iTunes library--including audio and video. Note, though, that some of the competing hardware is NOT restricted to mp4 video, so we're getting more choices these days!:)

And now--Boxee. With Boxee (still in alpha) loaded on your ATV, you can stream any common video format off your local network to your ATV. AND, you can view content from several popular internet sites, including Hulu and Joost in the US. The buzz for Boxee is great right now--let's hope it continues to prosper!

Can't believe I missed this thread. :)

Malaern pretty much covered it above. When I got my Apple TV I really didn't know how much I was going to use it. Now I use it all the time. I use the HD movie rental feature several times a month and like having all my personal photos, CD's and a few DVD's right at my fingertips. There are even some movies for rent in HD that are not available on Blu-Ray. Sometimes you will also see rentals appear on the same day they are released on DVD or Blu-Ray.

The ATV has become an important part of my home theater system.

Have it, love it!

Have had mine for about a year now. Have over 600 movies in it and add more each week. I am hoping for an upgrade this Spring that will give it some more horsepower for higher bitrate HD rips. I stream my content (obviously) over wired network and things work great. :)

Love mine, use it mostly for music and photos, the screensaver slideshow is amazing. I have over 5000 photos loaded and it's amazing to see your life in pictures on the screen. I wish it did Netflix but that will never happen. I have a Roku for that. Boxee looks promising but it will never be officially supported by Apple
