View Full Version : Is it possible to use wireless function of PS3 to connect to HRnn?
I have an HR21-100 connected to a Linksys wga600n in my living-room. I recently purchased a Playstation 3, and I have it attached to the HR21 via the Ethernet 2 port. All works great! I would like to move the wga600n to my bedroom. I just wondered if there is a way to use the PS3 wireless wifi router to connect to the HR in the living-room?

The PS3 isn't a router, it's an endpoint.

Actually that's not entierely true.
Yes we all know that the PS3 can connect to your network worelessly; however many don't know that it is also an access point for other wireless devices (with the ability to be ran in both infrastructure and adhoc modes).
You have to enable that feature by using the remote device connection in the menu.
In order for remote play to work the PS3 creates it's own broadcast seperate then your current main router's broadcasted one. I'm doing this here for 2 of my son's with PSP(s) as well as was able to cover a portion of the house where the main routers signal was low----but is now great!
I guess for my purposes the PS3 will not work, and I must use the HRnn to pass an Ethernet signal to the PS3 or use the PS3 like a wireless adapter. Is that a true statement?
