Anyone catch this on Link TV? It was a documentary on the impact of the satelite dish in Iran. Basically, they are illegal, but the majority of the population has them. Interesting how this has the potential to change thier society for the better through a grassroots type of movement.

Would be interesting to know what programming is available on satellites in that area of the world. I would be surprised it there was unfettered access to all Western programming, but I quess it is possible.

I think they get a pretty good variety. In the show, it showed several people watching popular music videos. One guy in the show was a shepard and was watching TV with a generator in his tent with a dish propped up on rocks. I remember a couple of years ago hearing the most popular show in Iran was Baywatch. Although most people said they blocked the "immoral" channels.
It was interesting to see they had a whole underground industry to provide and support satelite TV. The even had an underground industry to support illegal video rentals, even dubbing and captioning capabilities.
