Does anyone know how many have been terminated?

A symptom of "These Troubled Economic Times" or were these the retailers that DISH canned because they were acting unethically (http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/11/20/dish-network-cans-six-retailers-for-sketchy-behavior/)?

I'm sure there were others that were canned for low production, but I think most from flipping. Anyone have any numbers on this? I'm thinking that with less retailers in the business it might be better for the remaining retailers.

Do a search for the previous two threads on the subject. I don't think there were actual numbers of the terminated though. You'll probably also find some answers in the DISH Network press releases on their investor website.

In many cases, the terminated were accused of selling FTA pirating gear.

The press releases note selling pirating gear. I don't believe DISH has put out a release when terminating retailers for other reasons, although "the word on the street" is that if you're not making sales you're not going to remain a retailer long.

I don't believe they have terminated any retailers for spreading fear about "rain fade" on the internet, but I expect retailers that live in fear of their product failing are not doing that well anyways. You have to believe in what you're selling.

SEC filed quarterly/annual statements MIGHT mention retailer terminations to streamline operations, but I don't expect a lot of detail. I believe DISH would rather sell direct (no cut for the middleman) especially on low producing retailers.

between 30 and 60 in the last six months if I remember from the articles...

Dish has never been very aggressive in lining up retailers. They used to have exclusivity with Costco, but lost that a few years ago to Directv. They have Sears, Radio Shack, and a lot of smaller independents.

Circuit City's demise must hurt Directv. From what I gathered nearly everyone who bought a HDTV took advantage of Directv rebates at Circuit City. They've still got Best Buy lined up
