I have several models of remote that have come with my various receivers over the years. I am curious what the difference is between the RC24, RC32, RC64, and RC64R. I also have a remote that does not have a model number on it, but appears to be identical to the RC24. I really like the RC24 because it is smaller than any of the other models, but I don't want to sacrifice potential features. Thanks.

If it has a FCC sticker on the back RC64R it is RF for through the wall control. On the one without a model number open the battery compartment and I expect a sticker with RC16 the first model of the D* remote.:)

The remotes without a model # on the front come in 3 kinds that match the RC16, RC23, and RC24 remote models. The dfference between them are:

RC16: a strictly oem remote for directv branded receivers, since the only SAT codes it accepts are 00001-00004. It can control tivos partially with code 20618 on either av1 or av2 devices. You can tell this remote from other white remotes by the lack of a Format key.

RC23, adds codes for older named brands of sats, as RCA, Sony, Hughes, philips, and such. Its IR only.

RC24, only difference over the Rc23 is its RF.

RC32, the has larger body and keys, along with upgrade in the code library.

RC32RF is RF remote with backlighting

RC34, is oem RF remote only included with certain receivers.

RC64, IR remote with upgrade to the code library. first white remotes to include TV menu and cursor commands, Previou remotes all had the tv menu keys blank on purpose for ALL tv codes.

RC64R, oem RF remote included with certain receivers.

RC64RB, RF backlighted remote.
