Cable and satellite companies are at war to win your business. But that no longer means they'll offer you a juicy price break to get it.

Some of the biggest cable companies -- Comcast, Cox and Charter -- told Wall Street in quarterly reports this week that they're cutting back on sign-up discounts. Most are fed up with the expense and aggravation when people drop out, or don't pay, when the full price kicks in.

Interesting to see that Comcast is cutting back on their special deals...maybe I'll stop getting 3-4 or more of their "specials" every single week in the mail!

I have noticed that the specials aren't as good as some have stated they've recieved in the past, but there are still plenty of specials they are running...

When the cable companies start offering video and audio quality to match satellite, that will be an incentive to sign up.

Until then, they can keep their wires, their poles...and their price increases.
