E* sub need D* & DirecTiVo info..

Here's the situation..

Got downsized... Looks like my next job may be in St. Louis. I'm not moving the family - will be taking an apartment or something out there.

Since I'll be bored stiff, I'll be making one investment in a mini-home theater.

I'm an E* subscriber with a modified Dishplayer (I put in a larger HD).

I'm interested in D* (for MLB Extra Innings since I'll be away from home) and the fact that the DirecTiVo seems to be flawless.

Questions:

1) Is there a general FAQ I can go to to answer my queries?

2) How big a HD can I get in the TiVo?

3) Have they announced any HDTV plans? (Like E*'s 921)

The two-tuner TiVo sounds like something I'm looking for. Most of what I watch on E* is available on D* so I'm not terribly worried about that (not aware of any major differences).

Well the Directv HD TiVo DVR is expected out by the end of the year. The dual tuners is nice you can watch one channel while recording another or record 2 channels and watch a recorded show from you playlist.
You can go to directv.com/tivo or go to tivocommunity.com then select the directv with tivo forum.
The directv dvr (tivo) has a 14 day program guide.
DTV has a special offer go to the DTV website and go to get directv and go to buy a system, it should ask for a offer code, punch in ( ffdvr ) this will offer you a dvr for $159. Regular price is $249.

For question #1 - Visit www.tivocommunity.com for a forum dedicated to DirecTivo whenever they recover from their hardware problems. OR ask questions here.
For question #2 - Most people seem to upgrading to 120GB drives probably a price/performance issue. You can obtain a bracket to upgrade to two drives also. Its been reported that some functions slow down with larger drives. Best to read on tivocommunity for that.

I tried going to www.tivocommunity.com but they're apparently down for a while for serious maintenance and upgrade issues.

I figured most of the answers will be over there but when it was down I thought I'd ask here just to give it a shot :-)

My plan was to replace my DP with a 921 later this year - I *hadn't* planned on possibly working WAY out of town... I tell you, if TiVo and DirecTV come out with a 921 killer, that's when my 'home' subscription may change.

There is a temporary area on AVSForum.com to replace the TiVo community forum that has been down for two weeks now. You can ask TiVo related topics there.

But you can also ask here, and we'll try the best to answer your questions.

With regards to the 921 killer; the 921 isn't even out yet. I'm pretty sure TiVo will have something out soon after. But as of now, anything about HD PVR's is pure speculation.
