The SD Dtivo that is in my kids room has died a quick death. Directv is replacing it under the PP with a R15-300. Since I never really paid attention to this model is there anything that I should be concerned about? Been a madhouse here with the kids not having their TV in the playroom and really nervous about the unit.

The R15-300 is a nice, solid DVR. Don't believe any of those negative postings/reviews if they are older than 3 months. The software on this DVR has been vastly improved over the past year or two and you may not even find the few bugs that are left...

The R15-300 is slightly smaller than the other R15s.

No, the R15/R16s do not support external drives. The R22 does, as it uses the same hardware as the HR2x series.
