My first post since joining a couple of weeks ago. I'm very impressed with the level of expertise here.
My D* installer will be out here on Tuesday for a 4 room HD install (my son works for BB and is getting an employee discount for a total of $25/mo for the HD DVR package - couldn't pass it up). About 18 months ago, my son & I rewired our 20 yr old house with RG6 and brought all 7 of the lines to the Comcast box (installed on the north side of the house) where I installed a Channel Plus distribution amp (DA8200BID). The Comcast box is about 50' from an old D* dish that was installed some time ago. I was wondering if the installer could bring the Slimline feed an area near the Comcast box and use my existing cabling (there's a couple of feet of slack in the cables to allow them to be repositioned). I don't know if he will install his own junction box to house the power inserter and splitter or will I need to provide it? I have an exterior covered 110v outlet nearby that powers the the Channel Plus amplifier that he could use for the PI. Does the PI need to be covered (I live in Denver and it gets chilly during the winter)? Thanks for all input.
