Title pretty much says it all. I'm going to be moving soon and I know that with mover’s connection, I leave the dish. However, should I take the 8 port Zinwell? I haven't sold my house yet, so I have no idea if the new buyer would even want DTV. Since I'm probably going to end up in a 2 story in an older subdivision, I think I'm going to end up having to go with an SWM of some kind (either LNB or the SWMLine). Since I have an R15 and an older RCA, I think my options are limited to the SWMLine/Zinwell combo.
Does anyone know if I can even use the SWM LNB in Houston?
Any thoughts?

The SWM LNB will be a no go as long as you have that R15 and the RCAs active.

Well, no, there is no need to take your multi-switch with you, the movers connection provides dish/multi-switches.
I think you might be confused, the only SWM available via an installer is the SWM LNB. This is incompatible with your R15, so you will not be getting a SWM LNB from the installer. In order to get SWM capability you would have to purchase a SWM-8 multiswitch yourself, and either install it yourself, or ask the installer to install it, if they even know what to do with it. D* doesn't provide those for residences, so some installers might not even know what a SWM-8 is or what to do with it.

Thanks guys,
Looks like I'll leave it. On the SWM, if we go with a 2 story house and there is no easy way to run new cables to the rooms, I'll probably buy the SWMLine 8 port switch and hook it up ahead of time. That way, all the installer has to do is mount the dish and run the cables to the 8 port switch (although I'll probably run those cables as well).

its yours i would take it. no one will care and the next installer will still be happy as hell that the dish and wiring are there and all he gotta do is throw a multiswitch in. who knows they only warranty stuff 90 days , so you will have a spare if need be. sell it on ebay.

Keep in mind that you will have to get all new receivers as the ones you have now are not compatible with a SWM setup.

If he's going to go to a SWM setup, it will be useless to him.

Getteau - To be more exact the way the SWM-8 works would be four lines from the Slimline to the SWM-8 then one line to an 8-way splitter. While it sounds like that should support eight receivers it's actually 8 tuners. Counting DVR's as two tuners it doesn't take but four outputs to use up the full capacity of a single SWM-8 on the SWM side. I'm running a 4-way splitter and with my receiver combination that chews up 5 tuners out of only three of the outputs. There are three legacy outputs on the SWM-8 for your older receivers. Good luck with your move.

Just remember that you'll still need two runs to your R15 even with the SWM, it will need to be powered by the legacy ports on the switch.

Never hurts to have an extra....I would take it. You may need it down the road, or a friend or family member may need one?
i would take it too(for an extra)

TAKE IT!
That whole rig will run a vacation home or tailgate party. Even one TV in a garage can benefit from an old system. You can rig what you want yourself in the future. If it is attached to your building you own it (and have paid for it a few times).
You can expect to pay $4.99 per month for the stuff you rig after the move. DTV is always updating eq and abandoning the old stuff.
Leave the wire (cable) as is. The house will still be "DTV ready" so the realtor can add that to the listing info.
