ConnecTV is now an AFS in our area.

their subs are paying 80/20, installs only.

Was trying to get some feedback from anyone who has worked for them or who knows who they are.

Im at an HSP atm and get 30/15 truck and fuel and drop.

any insight to would be appreciated.

Well...

Here in Los Angeles at least, they're the HSP for my area in South L.A. and I would imagine beyond throughout parts of southern California. They are based in Rancho Dominguez, CA. here and my personal experiences with them have been mixed. I have found their level one technicians who initially arrive for a service call to be friendly, but rather poor. And on each job where they have come out to my home, I have always had to ask for a supervisor, who in turn was always very good, to come and straighten out some problem(s) they created.

ConnecTV just showed up in Chattanooga one day apparently to "help out" us in-house guys. All they did was create an insane amount of service calls for us. They did everything from mounting Ka's to fascia, to not using concrete on pole mounts, using the wrong dish's altogether, and even skipping out on the dvr second lines.
And it wasn't just one or two of their guys doing it, it was all of them.
Their "supervisor" was alright, granted he used to work for Bruister and got proper training, wasn't very smart though.

So, suffice it to say, I'm not terribly fond of ConnecTV. They do sh*t work.

Incompetent,
So if you get a 4 holer that takes all day.........like start at 8:00AM driving to the job and doing installation work from 9:00AM to say 6:00PM with another one hour back to the office you would be paid before taxes.......$75.00?

And if you got six single receiver installations at different addresses you would get $180.00 even if you were finished by noon?

Is that it?

Joe, with the HSP im at I would need to finish th rest of my jobs no matter what time i got off. Main point is, I have been doing work for D* for 9 years+ and most jobs wont take me that long. If for whatever reason they did then yea I'd get the 75 for that one job and most likely id have to call in for other techs to pick up my extra work. Of course, Id get B*tched at for not being able to do my route properly etc etc etc.

Honestly, Im the first guy they call because i'm usually done before all the others and they need me to help out other techs. I work 6 days a week and while some of my routes are ok, 50% are usually service calls and cheap paying upgrades.

The reason for my OP was that connect is in our area serving as an AFS and the contractor i was talking to is paying 50% + per job, and its installs only. The install only is what im liking because of the fact that if i do an original install than there should be no problems with the exception of EQ failures. I take pride in my work. THe HSP I am with are ok but the service in 90 policy and the fact that they hang the "hey this is our van' etc policy is getting unnerving.

I would look around,

But remember the AFS thing can go just as fast as it arrives. They offer more to get a few locals back in the mix but they also depart after everyone has worked themselves out of a job. The HSP really doesn't want their deal screwed by additional help.

The 50% that is not paid gets pissed away on real inefficient office procedures (IMHO), Back charges for "lost" equipment can make your last check a real surprise. The money seems ok if you can make some significant cash on non standard charges and not spend too much time on hold closing the jobs.

Here I just found a HSP ad on craigslist..."$500 to 1200 per week, no experience needed..." as a contractor. Not enough!

Think long before jumping ship. Can they give you a tech number right away? A lot of times there is a 30 day wait period. Also a lot of HSPs like to mess with techs moving to subs or AFS.

That was my experience. AND many times it turns out you are not dealing with the larger company, HSP or AFS, but rather some local subcontractor. These guys take offense when you ask how long they have been in business or if you can see their personal identification.

They just look for the inexperienced who are not expecting the bag of tricks they use every day.
