check that you don't have your receiver defaulting to the SD channel. There should be two 205's. Glad to finally see this.

I noticed last nite that 9477 was red and labeled FXNWS. This morning, 9477 isnt red and is tunable: looks HD Fox News. On the other hand 205 is SD... I guess I'll have to re-do some timers to pick up the HD version up at 9477.
P.S. Finally: Fox News in HD! WooHoo!!!!

Strange how for some, 205 is HD, and for others they can see it only on 9477.
For those that only see Fox News on 9477, do you have the Dish HD channels enabled so the HD and SD show next to each other? Or do you have it disabled so you don't see the mapped down HD channels next to the SD channels?

I have it enabled and i see it in hd both on 205 and 9477.
The map down feature may be disabled or the channel has not be activated for them yet. Last night 205 only showed the sd channel while the HD one was in red at 9477. This morning 205 has both and 9477 is viewable.

Yeah, I cheked again after my previous post... 205 is now in HD just like 9477.... so I guess I can remove 9477 from fav's (it was in there from when something else was in that slot).
I'm going to have to upgrade? yuk to get the fox channels........??
I assume us prior customers can now go the metal upgrades?

According to Yahoo and Reuters, the lawsuit between Fox and E* was settled. FN will be seen at the Bronze level 100 and FB will be accessible to Gold 250.

Speed HD should be coming now that the lawsuit has been settled.
just got home. . . .
the new channels are a no-go for HD Absolute customers. :(
fox news HD may be the one channel that makes me changes packages.
and with the possibility of the other networks coming along now, its awfully tempting.
HD Absolute. In the red here as well :(

Lets not count on anything until it happens
According to Dish's webste, Fox News HD is included with the TurboHD Bronze package. Unfortunately, I just switched plans and it's not working.
Anyone else seeing the same problem?
Surprisingly, customer service was absolutely no help... :(
Turbo HD gold does not get these channels according to a CSR, even though the website clearly shows that it does.

well. . .
i did it. . . .
gave up absolute. now have 250 w/ goldHD & Platinum.
they gave me hbo & starz free again for another three months. i've had dish for 8 months now and i think i've only paid for hbo & starz for two of them. they keep offering it to me for free; that's nice!
figured i might as well switch if i want to keep getting new HD, and there are a few SD channels that i'll enjoy having back.
i'm sure i'll have a change of heart in the next day or so, but absolute is gone forever.

I tried that. The CSR simply responded stating that they are constantly reviewing their packages and will pass along my desire to add FoxNewsHD to this package.
I told them it already is part of the package... :)

OK, I guess I found a bug.... 205 never was in HD, but appeared so under certain conditions:
After some unknown period of inactivity, punch in 205 to go directly to that channel... note its not HD. Then, directly punch 9477, thus taking you to the FoxNewsHD channel. Now, punch 205 in again, and bingo: FoxNewsHD on 205.... as long as you stay there.... If you change channels, and come back to 205, it will eventually revert to SD.

205 and 206 are mapdowns. If you have 9477 and/or 9476 in your guide and have mapdowns enabled you should have 205 and 206 HD respectively. No tricks needed.
The two new channels were added in an odd way (made available then authorized on receivers) instead of the usual way (authorized then made available) so they have "faded in" over the past couple of days depending on when your account was authorized. Once you get them they should stay.

Have you tried Hiding and Locking 205 and 206 SD channels? I do this myself as I hate seeing the doubles of a channel, and prefer the HD version. Granted when tuning in the past it tuned to the HD version of a channel by default, but used to record SD, unless I had HD set as preferred, so I am not sure why it doesn't tune to the HD for you.
I keep the map downs as I prefer the order and I am used to the channels locations, the 94xx channels, they aren't in a order I like.
But how much more did they bend you over for?:eek2:
oh there's quite a difference.
previous bill:
absoluteHD w/ locals $34.99
HBO & Starz $22.00
PBS $1.5
$58.49
now its:
Classic Gold 250 w/ GoldHD & locals $72.99
Platinum HD $10.00
HBO & Starz $22.00
Multi-Sport $5.99
$110.98
I added the sports pack. The price doubled, but I also have a lot of channels now. They're not all in HD, but I think my son will like having Nick and some other toon channels back we had on cable. Plus comedy, speed, espnU/classic, and I get my RSN's now.

Then later it disappeared. As of 4 PM PST it's not there. So I've got to wonder if their web site got messed up, or if Fox News was posted by mistake and later removed.

I think Fox News SD might be in a free preview right now... which could explain why you are seeing it. I'll have to go check and see if I have it. I know I don't have the HD versions of the new FOX channels because I already checked for those.
I agree with you about HD Absolute. If they launch a bunch of HD then I could be persuaded... but for now I'm ok not having FOX news HD/Business HD for the cost savings.:uglyhamme

I wondered about that myself. Very weird since they don't seem to have taken the channels away from folks who have reported watching them. Maybe this is a good sign and they are actually going to update the graphics for more?
I can't imagine they would take them back after just launching.

Anyone having recording issues on Fox News HD? I record Red Eye every night and last nights recorded for 4 minutes then a warning came up about my smart card not being able to watch or record this channel and the recording ended.

I finally got my Fox News & Fox Business HD. I called Dish for the 4th or 5th time this morning about it and it turned out my account information had not been updated when I installed the new smart card 2 or 3 weeks ago. Once the new smart card number was entered and I rebooted my ViP622 it all showed up.
So, if you're not getting these channels and you think you should be, have them check your account to ensure your account information is correct.

I just turned this on to check out America's Newsroom and I may just go back to the SD feed. I can't stand all that crap flying all over the screen. I think the ticker is bad enough but you have to live with that with all news channels anymore. But all those graphics on the right 1/3 of the screen are awfully distracting.

Yeah, and it seems to vary from show to show.... probably more accurately studio to studio. Glenn Beck and Fox&Friends (NY) are HD while Special Report (DC) is SD.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't - you can't please 'em all.

I was listening to Leo Laporte on XM and he said that due to complaints CNN had toned down all the stuff they had crammed in their screen. Didn't say when or if it was the HD or SD version, it could have been when they first launched HD. It looks like Fox could do some of the same.
