View Full Version : Q re construction work and dish alignment

Next week our complex is having some termite guys out doing work on the wood in our complex. My dish (slimline 3) is mounted into the stucco, but the two support arms are mounted into the wood. It's possible the latter two arms will have to be disconnected and then reconnected after the wood is replaced.

I'm assuming this will impact the alignment of my dish. Does the dish need to be aligned so precisely that this will likely degrade my reception? (The main arm will probably not be affected, just the support arms.) Should I assume it's going to take a service call to DTV?

Thanks.

Nicholas

it should be fine as long as they dont move the mast while re-attaching the mono poles.

As dave said, the dish should have enough support from the main foot to temporarily hold it in place as long as they do not exert much force on it.

Thanks, guys, this is encouraging. (All I need is for these guys to come next Monday and knock out my reception a few hours before '24' comes on.)

If something does happen, remember you can get 24 on hulu.com as well ;)

Just make sure they loosen the nuts on the first. 7/16 wrench.

i think if it were me......
that i would go ahead and take the monopoles off and put them back on myself(the day that they will be there)

Just make sure they loosen the nuts on the first. 7/16 wrench.

The new improved support arms require a 1/2" deep well impact socket, just like the dish.

Following up on my original query.

The guys came out yesterday, and the work they did didn't require fiddling with the area where the dish was mounted at all. (They did have to detach about 8 feet of cable, since they are running along part of the wood that was being replaced, but that was easy enough to reattach when the new wood was mounted.)

So I learned something, and I didn't have any actual problems to worry about. (Of course, the house still has termites to worry about, but this isn't a termite discussion board . . . . )

Thanks once again.
