New Speakers For my Aiwa Mini System

could I hook up some Nice sony speakers to this System Ive had it for 3 Years Now but my speakers Suck

I seen some nice sony bookshelf speakers and some nice floor standing Speakers that i would want but would they work for my Aiwa

Usually mini systems are designed to operate with VERY efficient speakers and are pretty much matched to the ones that come with them. Often they don't have the power available to run good quality, less efficient speakers. I am sure other speakers would work, but you might not get much volume out of them and cranking the mini to drive them louder could damage the speakers and/or the receiver.
