View Full Version : 622 Losing OTA

Every once in a while my 622 loses the OTA signals. It's not multipath nor a weak signal and I don't get the yellow signal lost screen. I get a 0% signal strength on all OTA channels and a blank screen. This happened to me last night.

I did a rescan of locals and tuned in to an OTA channel. It took a couple of seconds but eventually I got my 100% signal strength and a picture. Since the rescan didn't fix the issue immediately, I'm wondering whether it did anything at all.

Anyone else encounter this issue and have a fix?

I don't see how a re-scan would help. IMHO it's probably a bad antenna or bad cable.

I have OTA and my OTA does not move more than a couple of points in normal operating conditions. Like another user indicated. I would check your connections and your antenna. Also, If the TV your 622 is plugged in has an OTA tuner, I would connect the same cable to both and when you see the issue on the 622 toggle to your TV to see if it is experiencing it.

The other possibility is your OTA tuner in your 622 is going bad but it is always best to start with external factors first to narrow down your issue. How do you know it is not multipathing? in the past the 622/722 has been susceptible to multipathing.

When I had a smaller antenna and encountered multipath issues I would get the yellow "signal lost" screen. A couple of weeks ago our NBC affiliate had transmission issues. Got the signal lost message. If I disconnect the antenna cable I get the same signal lost screen.

With this issue I just get a blank screen with a 0% signal. No error message, nothing.

I have had this before. I did a hard reboot, the problem was solved and didn't come back.

Also, if I am watching a recorded program and the OTA would be selected if I hit "Live TV", when the OTA goes out because of signal loss, it will prevent me from watching the recorded program (Yellow error screen).

I mention this because the last time I had the 0%, but no error screen, that is what happened.

Hard reboot and see if that helps.

I'll give it a shot. Thanks. Our electricity has flickered about 10 times in the past week for whatever reason. The provider really stinks. I'm sure that it's tough on my electronics. I may end up getting a couple of UPS backups.

I would definitely suggest either a good power conditioner or a UPS for your receiver.

This happened to my 722 in the last few days. I went to the Local Channels page and selected Done and that fixed it. No rescan. It hasn't happened again but that's what I did to fix it. Very weird.
