1 million clients have used the service thru XBox 360 and they have watched 25 million hours of programming since the program started.

Would be really nice if I could get HD that way but the SD stuff is pretty good.

Bandwidth Issue? The blockade to HD streaming... enough bandwidth is not all that common yet.

I know - but *I* have the bandwidth (fiber connection) and there are a few thousand just like me in Southern New Hampshire alone who might like the option. I suspect the real culprit is Netflix's "upload" bandwidth.

Sorry I do not understand then... I have been watching HD streaming from Netflix since they started the XBox 360 program.. and I now watch it on my Samsung Blu Ray player.

I guess I haven't been able to find the HD option on my Netflix account - or any instructions about it. Is there some setup procedure I'm missing?

In Netflix, click on the Watch Instantly Tab and select "Genres" then click on HD.

I've had it for a couple of months, it started giving me trouble after my Xbox fried and I fixed it myselof with an Xclamp removal, so I thought maybe I just screwed something up on my box, but it plays games fine. I tried Netflix again last night and was able to watch movies again no problem so I am thinking their network was congested.

For a week though I would watch movies and at the same point every time I would get "Your network connection has slowed" and it would downgrade the video. Let me just tell you, you don't want to see what the 1 bar quality looks like on a 73" TV. I thought I was watching code monkeys.

I am really enjoying the service so far especially for documentaries. So far I have watched 4 seasons of The Office and 2 season of 30 Rock in HD, tons of docs, and a few movies. I still wouldn't replace the discs in the mail for the streaming even if the title selection was the same due to lack of 5.1 audio and image quality but it is still a great feature.

I feel so stupid. I never looked at "HD" as a genre so I never saw the option. Now that I found it, I'm only disappointed that there was only one movie in that list I would have wanted to stream in NH - "Serenity" .

The only other problem with the HD streaming, is that the audio is only stereo...no 5.1 audio sound :(

But oh well.

I use the HD streaming for mostly TV shows...their HD movie selection is sadly, pretty barren. Though their SD quality isn't that bad...

In Netflix, click on the Watch Instantly Tab and select "Genres" then click on HD.I know this was meant for someone else, but I tried the same thing, but I don't have the "HD" genre, do I have to enable blue-ray?

No, I was watching streaming HD before I switched to Blu-Ray. Make sure you are on the "Watch Instantly" Tab before you select "Genre"... HD is listed.

jviter - make sure you check again that its on the "Watch Instantly" tab...and I can view the selections (not the movies obviously) with Firefox that isn't compatible with the Watch Instantly feature...

What you just described is what shows up on the "Browse DVDs" tab...

In IE 7, here is a screen shot. What must I be missing?

What device do you use to get it? The 360 or another device? I the 'device' in your upper right corner doesn't show up on my screen (in IE or Firefox).

That could be your 'problem' but I'm not sure... I definitely have a HD genre between "Gay & Lesbian" and "Horror"

The way it seems, is that you're just watching the streamed content on your PC...not on your TV. You might need a XBOX 360 or one of those Bluray players that streams Netflix content in order to 'unlock' the HD stream feature...

according to Netflix...this is what you need....

Also, for those that didn't know, the Academy Awards Winner for 'Best Documentary' (many consider to be the best movie of the year in all categories) "Man on Wire" is offered in HD on Netflix

HD on your Netflix Ready DeviceCertain titles are available to watch in HD on your Netflix ready device. In order to watch in HD you need:

A HD TV and component or HDMI connection from your Netflix ready device to your TV
A high-speed internet connection at time of playback (typically 5 Mbps or higher)

Now we need to figure out why the won't let us get this down here in St. Croix even though we are a US territory. They say we are not in the US (oh but we are), and even though you can join Netflix (we hae US Postal Service here, we are in the US) they won't let us stream. A little like Dish not letting us get Turbo HD Gold...frustrating.

Netflix on 360 is a def home run, now if we can just get a partnership with Hulu we would be golden.

If Sony hadn't pulled their line up from there, low blow on their part.

what sony movies aren't on there?

They had a 'glitch' in the system during the initial release, but all of that was straightened out i thought...
