I have an HR20-700 connected via HDMI to a Sharp Aquous LCD. Last week I noticed a sudden failure of the receiver to respond to any remote commands. The front panel worked fine, but nothing from the remote. I changed batteries, changed remotes, tried the Harmony, nothing. The same remote worked fine with a HR22. I then noticed that if I held the remote about one inch from the sensor, it would work. The next morning, problem gone, remote working normally.

Tonight, same thing. THe remote is not working unless held right next to the sensor, and even then sporadically. The front panel works fine. RBR fails to fix the problem. Any ideas?

Sharp Aquous LCD
LCD panels emit "a bunch" of IR that can/will "swamp" the IR sensor. Either go into the TV setup and "play" with something like power saving setting [this was what was my problem with my Sony] or change to RF mode [which is what I now use].

I have heard that rumor but I have no problem with my 3 Remotes working on my HR21-700 & my HR23-700 which are right under my LG LCD HDTV!!!

Have you tried turning off your LCD TV manually and then try the Remote to see if it changes the channel?

[For me] it's no "rumor". I know my TV is the source of the IR.
