View Full Version : Anyone here use NETFLIX ?

I've been thinking about using this service, but I have a few questions of concern.

1. Has anyone had any troubles with the popular DVD's and them being available ?

2. I live on the East Coast, I'm just wondering when I drop a DVD in the mail how long will it take before I get the next one. I believe Netflix is on the West Coast.

3. Is anybody using a service other than Netflix to rent their DVD's online?

I would appreciate any comments from anyone who has used it or knows someone that has used it.

Thanx in advance :)

I USE to use them.

All the titles I wanted to rent were always out of stock.

Shipping to CT was usualy in 3 days or so.

They use to have a "SENT IT BACK" button on their site which would release your next video to you while your sending the other one back, now they must get the other video back before shipping youa new one. So here you can have a week delay (sometimes more)

I have found it easier just to buy the movies I want, this way its always in stock. :)

Hi John,

Yes, I have been using Netflix since their inception a few years back.

Most new titles are in stock but some of the very popular ones take time. On average, it could take me up to a month to get a very popular title. I would say that happens about 40% of the time. If I really want to see something that badly, I will usually just take the short trip to Blockbuster to rent it or to Best Buy to purchase it.

It varies greatly on how long it takes a title to reach you. I live in Texas and the average mail time from Netflix to me is about 4 days. Sometimes it only takes 3 but more often than not, it takes 5. Rememeber, you can have more than one title out at a time depending on what level of service you choose.

For me, Netflix has been great for renting titles that are not available in the video store. For the past few years I have been renting the Star Trek Original Series DVD's and have just finished watching all of them. I purchased a few but it was nice being able to rent them without buying every single one.

Sometimes people tell me about movies that I haven't seen and it's nice being able to jump on Netflix and place it in my Queue and forget about it until it reaches my house. Much better than trying to hunt it down in the video store if they have it at all.

Another great thing about Netflix is that you can keep the movie for as long as you want. Sometimes I will let a disc sit for up to a month before I get around to watching it. Very nice and impossible to do at Blockbuster without racking up fees.

For me, Netflix has been a godsend. If you are willing to pay the monthly fee for the convenience, I say go for it. As long as you use it, it's well worth the money.

I've only found one price for one level of service, its the $19.95 a month for 3 rentals, are the other prices and levels?

Netflix Service Plus (5 out)
Ideal for members who want a larger selection of DVDs at home, our Plus Program lets you have 5 movies out at a time for a flat monthly fee of $29.95.

Netflix Service Bonus (4 out)
With variety, value and an extra movie, our Bonus Program lets you have 4 movies out at a time for a flat monthly fee of $24.95.

Netflix Service Standard (3 out)

DVD Avenue isn't bad but be aware that their selection isn't as large.

Thanx Everyone !!

hmmmm.....I normally rent the new releases.

DVDAvenue is on the East Coast in Maryland, so the mailings should be faster.

VoiceOfReason....How are they with the availabilty of the popular title DVD's?
