View Full Version : What is the likelihood of getting a H21 (vs H20) from D*

I have an H20-600 in a place I don't really watch much. I got that special offer from d* so I figured I'd order an HD receiver (free) and get a H21 so I could do the mrv thing. Somehow I didn't figure I'd get another H20 but I did. I can use it on another TV so I guess I'll just add on (maybe I'll deactivate and send the old one back because it doesn't have the eco 2.0 sticker under it)
should I pretty much give up on the idea of getting a free H21 from d* and just get an HR22 if I want to do the MRV thing later on?

I did the H20-600 ECO recall and got an H21-100. I did make sure to tell them that this TV didn't need OTA.

You will need at least one DVR in your system to do MRV, so if you do not have one currently that is the first step. Regardless of whether or when MRV happens, I personally find having a DVR at each TV is great. The recurring monthly cost is the same, so the only difference is the initial cost of getting the DVR.

Well there is the cost, plus, like many other people here, I'd like to have lots of different receivers doing different things
IMO it is worth it just to get another DVR. Since the monthly cost is the same, its just the initial investment that differs. and $100 or even less is well worth it for a DVR IMO.
I have 2 and find there are many times I am recording 3 or 4 things at once.

Well an update. Got a H20-600 ECO 2.0 from a straight up order from the dtv website ("free" loyalty offer), and an H21-100 as a replacement for my older recalled H20-600. The H21 is networked and am really enjoying the CE features.
