Hey all -

I inherited a standard def Series 2 Tivo (a non DirecTV box) model # TCD24004A. Right now, it's just taking up space and I am look for suggestions as to what I should do with it? Assuming it can't be used with DirecTV in any way, really.

Should I scrap it for parts? Rip out the hard drive and toss the rest? Sell it? Any other creative use for it?

Would love some suggestions.

Thanks!

There's still a bit of a market for them on eBay.

Thanks Stuart -

Yeah, but unfortunately, most of them are going for only a few bucks - hardly worth the effort.

Right now, it's a doorstop!

Well, if you're handy with a Dremel, it might make a nice home theatre PC...

Just using it as a shell to put new pc components inside

Your Series 2 TiVo could be used with a standard DTV receiver, using the IR blasters on the TiVo. You'd wind up having a 80 hour standard def DVR in that configuration, using the S-Video out on the TiVo. It would be fine for any room in your home that has an analog TV.
