I want to change out my current LNB set for a SWM LNB set. I have the Slimline Dish and have had it for about a year. I have three HR20 HD DVR's and want to simplify my wiring plus allow OTA to be sent to my third DVR (to date I have not been able to use it due to requiring another COAX).

So, I am looking at the possibilities and it appears that there are two SWM LNB types. One has three LNB's on it and the other (SWM3) only has a single LNB.

I am in a Los Angeles suburb and get the HD package and locals, but no international packages.

My question is this - what is the difference between the two SWM LNB types? Am I okay with installing the SWM3?

Thanks

The one with three visible LNB's is actually a 5-LNB, and the one with one visible LNB is a 3-LNB. The 5-LNB can see satellites 99, 101, 103, 110 and 119. The 3-LNB can see 99, 101 and 103.

In your location, the 3-LNB should provide you with all of the English language SD and HD channels. If you have a Spanish language program package, you need the 5-LNB.

As carl said, SWM5 is 99/101/103/110/119 while the SWM3 is 99/101/103.

If you do not have any international/spanish programming you should be fine with the SWM3 as the LA locals are on 101 and 103.

You want the SL3-S (Slimline LNB-3 - SWM).

You want the SL3-S (Slimline LNB-3 - SWM).

Good point. Would stink to order it and get a non SWM model (no s at the end)

Where can one buy these LNB's? I checked Solid Signal and did not see them seperate.

Thanks. If you check SS via the DirecTV link on their home page, the LNBs are not there and if you search on teh SL3-S number given above, it is only the dish itself.

I just searched for SWM to find it.
