I am a little confused about the dishes...
How many cables does the Slimeline 3 need coming out of it? Does it already have a built in SWM?
If it already has a built in SWM how would you connect that to another SWM?
Thanks,
Angel

There is a Slimline 3 that has 4 outputs on it. You have to run all 4 lines to an SWM8 or WB68 to use them.
Than there is a SWMline 3. That has only one output because it has a built in SWM in the LNB assembly. With that unit you can not hook up any external multi-switches so you are limited to a maximum of 8 SWM capable tuners.

Any kind of splitter or only certain ones?
How would you know if you get the SWMline3?
Sorry so many questions here.

Any kind of splitter or only certain ones?
They have to be rated 2 - 2150 Mhz [ although many 5 -2150 ones work fine ] and if you plan to put the power inserter after the splitter one port has to be power passing.
How would you know if you get the SWMline3?
only one line from dish
splitter
power inserter
SWM menu on HD IRDs
Sorry so many questions here.

I have the SWMLine and I use these splitters
Skywalker Splitters SKY23302D, Power Pass/Diode Steered, 5-2300MHz
Diode Steered is important. It ensures that the power from PI doesn't get back to the receivers and increases your configuration options.

Why couldn't you just add another MS (multiswitch)?
Why couldn't you just add another MS (multiswitch)?
If you use the regular Slimline with 4 outputs, you can use external multiswitches (one, or multiple in parallel).
If you use the SWMLine dish, there is only one SWM output and there are no external multiswitches designed to work with that signal. It is entirely different than the regular dish signal that goes to a multiswitch.
