Hi: The 24 month term of my D* Plus HD service (with 6 receivers!) ends next week. Will D* give me some new discount to renew if I call them? Or would it be better to see if AT&T can give me a deal? (I am an existing ATT customer also). Thanks.

There is only one way to know. And, that is to call DirecTV.

You are still an ' existing' customer no matter if you are under contract. The only deal would come from your account status.
To get any deal comparable to new customer you would have to disconnect and reconnect after a grace period [ not sure, maybe 6 months ].

You're not going to get any of the new customer deals. They may offer you some free premiums or something.
If you "bundle" your AT&T account with DirecTV, you'll get a $5/month credit

mopdogger,
The only "renewing" of the 24-month commitment comes with equipment activation. If you want additional equipment and are willing to commit to another 24 months, call and see what kind of deal they'll give you.
If you've got all the equipment you need (I would kind of hope so! :)), you can call them and see if they have any programming discounts you could take advantage of or maybe some free-for-so-many-months premiums you'd be interested in or something. Programming discounts and/or free premiums should NOT come with a programming commitment period.
