Software currently used:PlayOn

1. How can I access music from my PC to my TV?

2. Is their a way to watch downloaded videos and pictures on my PC on my TV?

Seeing as PlayOn only lets me watch streaming website video I had to ask the other questions. Thanks in advance.

There is a menu option "Music, Photos & More". This is where you'll find your computers listed. Try it out and see what happens. I had to play with some of the settings on TVersity.

With both of those I've been able to stream audio/video/photos from my laptop to my TV.

I've been able ot view downloaded HD trailers in HD on my TV (had to covert them to wmv first).

Yes, it is possible to do what you want.

At our Christmas party I setup to stream a Christmas music folder with a slide show of past party pictures. It worked well.

I added a video and started TVersity but nothing shows up in the settings menu of my DVR. Can someone walk me through?

First, go to the menu and check the network setup. You may have to run the setup first. If it checks out and you don't see Music and Photos, you probably need to re-boot the DVR. Also, this will disappear from your menu every month or so, so you'll need to re-boot to get it back.

Mediashare is unreliable but cool when it is working. I have a ViiV PC which is what it was first designed for.

You need to convert them.

ffmpeg.exe -i input.whatever -threads 2 -f mpegts -vcodec mpeg2video -acodec ac3 output.mpg

And if you don't have Viiv you can't rewind or fast-forward.

I have a powerline adapter connected to Router and DVR.

I have set TVersity Settings tab; under General change the 'Playback Device' to Xbox 360 and under Transcoder change 'When to transcode' to always

Restarted both the DVR and TVersity

Does it sound as though I have everything correct? If so it is still not working.

Ok, I have a few questions when using TVersity. Here are my current setup details.

DVR hardwired to a Linksys N router and my PC specs are below. My download is 15mbps and upload is 2.0MBPS.

Here are my issues/questions.

1. I am trying to play/stream XVID files.(They play fine for awhile and stop.) Why might this happen?

2. Must the files be transcoded before I can play them in full?

3. Must I be streaming the files on my DVR in order for the files to transcode?

4. How long might this take?

5. I am unable to fast foward any video as it plays should I be able to?

No Viiv is the only player/hardware that supports ff/rw and it is junk because it will not play DD audio.

PlayOn now has a Local Files Media(beta) as well as the local files plugin. I can watch movies from my server (rips of dvd's I own). Just a matter of seeing what suits you in quality of picture with the conversions. Actually it'll play a vob file right now, but will not play them together like the dvd structure is. You could merge them into one vob. Again depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

As far as your setup goes... I have a HR20-700 and have WMP sharing setup and PlayOn, that's it and it works.

That site has the plug-in you asked about. It's called LocalFiles. PlayOn's current version of video play is buggy & still beta...I think.
