I had Absolute HD on my account for a while. I went away on vacation in December and had my account put on hold for a few weeks; I got back now and Absolute HD is gone. The CSRs say they can't put me back on Absolute but are instead offering me Turbo Bronze.

I feel I'm getting shafted badly - Bronze gets me half of what I had in terms of programming content for the same price. Is there someone I could contact at Dish that could help me out? I have been a very loyal Dish customer and have spent loads of money with them in the last 4 years.

Unfortunately no. The CSR's don't even have the option to add that package back on to accounts. Not saying there aren't people who can do it in cases where it accidentally gets dropped by the system or something like that, but in instances like yours, they won't.

The same thing happened to me, except I called to cancel dish home protection and they accidentally removed my programming. When I called back they told me they couldn't offer Absolute again, sent me to customer retention where they finally gave me HD Gold and HD Platinum and a $20 credit (to bring it down to the price of Absolute) for 1 year. It really is a pain because I have to keep an eye on my bill and soon will have to call back because of the price increase, but I do get a couple extra channels (RSNs). Overall i wish i was still on Absolute because of the hassle, but you may want to try emailing the ceo email or calling back and getting customer retention. just be aware that you will be at least an hour on the phone and you'll be checking your bill especially the first month and not understand a thing. Is it worth your time? I suppose.

Thanks for the response. I figured the CSRs don't have the power to put Absolute HD back.

Is there anyway I could contact customer retention directly without going through the 1800 number? I have wasted an inordinate amount of time already with the CSRs there..At least I'd like them to match the programming I had for a while without demoting me to Bronze!

I get scared that something like that is going to happen to my cell phone plan. My plan is no longer offered, and all the new ones are more expensive. I did manage to add a data pack for a few months and then drop it later with no consequences, but it still makes me nervous.

The problem is the OP went onto, it sounds like, Dish Pause, which removes the package entirely. So, he saved $15 for 3 weeks in vacation mode, but may have lost Absolute.

Good news! I called the 720 number and managed to get Absolute HD back on my account. Never thought I was going to be able to. It's amazing how much time I've spent just to get back to status quo! Happy, nevertheless!
