My brother told me that his neighbor has 8 TVs set up on one account.

Is that possible....I thought the maximum was 4 or can you have more if you own your own equipment????

is only for 4 receivers so switches and labor and lease upgrade fees could be added.

I'm not sure what the exact number of "Recievers" you can have on one account, but it is certainly more than 4. It's not a matter of how many TV's as it is Receivers. I think it's something like 8 to 10 before they start getting "curious". I could be mistaken on that however.

I know it's more than 4 (I have 5 myself, with 10 tuners in use).

I was running 6 DVRs all with free installation every time I added one. Recently cut back to 5.

Four lines out of the dish going directly to 4 tuners max is the most simple of installs.
Four lines to the wb68 multiswitch going to 8 tuners max is the next level
Four going to a splitter to 2 wb68's or to 1 wb616 for 16 tuners.

Add cascading multiswitches and/or SWM and you can just keep going, though some degree of do-it-yourself and know-how is required.

Somewhere between 32 and 100 tuners is probably the max for normal residences

There used to be (many years ago), a 4 tuner limit. But that's been gone for quite a while. I have 10 tuners in the house now, with 5 HR series receivers.

I think getting anywhere close to 32 tuners would raise a flag somewhere.

17 tuners in 12 receivers has never been an issue.

For a long time, the website would display 10 receivers with numbered graphic images. Above 10, which it supported, the pages had a whole where the graphic would go. :)

Now the website supports even more, tho I do not know if it has a limit at all.

Cheers,
Tom

I understand that would raise flags that it would look like someone in an MDU sharing an account, but what if it were legit? Would they set a limit, or would they seek to verify this somehow?

If they are all connected to the same phone line, the verification is automatic. I suspect internet connections might have a similar effect, but am not sure.

Tom if I count your Sig correctly, you have 22 tuners in use?

What you your setup, are you cascading a WB616 and SWM8 or multiple SWM8s or a combo of WB68 and various SWMs?

I saw an account with 25 receivers. She had a ranch with a bunch of trailers and cabins, provided homes/bunks for kids she was doing the CASA advocacy thing for.

I have 10 DVRs: 2 HR20-700s, 2 HR10 DirecTiVos, 6 SD DirecTiVos, all active. None of the DVRs are plugged into a phone line. The 2 HR20s are connected to the Internet.

Did I mention that I only have 5 TVs. In the family room, 8 of the DVRs are connected to 2 TVs. There are 2 DVRs in the master bedroom. The 2 other TVs can connect to any of the SD DRVs via video distribution.

Dish lines to 4 four-way splitters. Two WB68s and Two SWMs. Works great, strong signals all around. :)

The normal maximum is 20 receivers per account, but commercial accounts can exceed this with the proper paperwork, which must be processed in advanced and takes a few days at least.

Having said that, more than 10 receivers on an account usually requires an FSM from the HSP to physically go to the home to account for the receivers.

I did work on a (minor) celebrity's house in Ventura. He had 14 receivers and a Platinum account. At the time, Platinum was $7500/year, and the receivers were completely unlocked. Every PPV, every premium, everything except out of market locals was included.

Not that I'll be needing a 4 way split in the forseeable future, but what splitters are they and where do you get them? I don't see any currently available at solidsignal.

Is it the eagle aspen at summitsource?

Duh. Yeah, that's what I meant. Hey, it was over 3 (4?) years ago and he was only the second person who had Titanium...

Lowes/Depot have them. Look for the very wideband splitters 2MHz to 2300MHz (or something like that.)

Couple of sites have them too, for less, but the ability to pick them up right now was pretty helpful. :)

I am using the Directv branded SWS series splitters for the Sat split. I also use the Holland branded STS series, Skywalker, and Sonora splitters too.
