A couple of questions for those that know better than me. First is, I bought a complete LS3 slimline off E Bay, and it was packaged rather poorly. All the parts are there, but the reflector got slightly damaged. The outside edge got dented at about 2 O-clock. I straightened it out, and there is very slight imperfections on the face of the dish that run about 1/2-3/4" into it,for about 3" of the dish. Other wise the dish looks good. Will, or can that affect the alighgnment at all?
Second is I purchased a SWM8 for the house, and the serial #'s are taken off...Hmmmm.

Which part is the good?

I've bought two dozen AT9 and AU9 dishes from eBay, paying a little less than the internet retailers charge, and all were new-in-the-box and in excellent condition, unopened.

A deformed dish will degrade its performance, but if the deformation is slight, then the degradation will be slight.

There isn't any way to scientifically measure to what extent the focus of the dish has been corrupted. Basically, this buyer will simply install it and see if the resultant signals are satisfactory and if they are not, he will have to buy another one.

Prices were very good, and feedback was good for the sellers as well. The dish was re packed into a decent box, and parts wrapped well. The reflector however was basicaly on the bottom of the box with little support.

You could file a claim for shipping damages.:)

First of all, if the dish has any imperfections on the surface, I personally wouldn't use it. As far as that reflector that solidsignal is selling, it may or may not work with your setup. I've heard there were variations in the bolt pattern used to mount the reflector depending on the manufacturer.

Thanks. The guy I purchased from will replace, and after the dent I found on the face last night, I want a new one. There is a slight dent near the bolt holes, so no good from what I hear.
