I am not sure, but I doubt very much that anyone is making them anymore. Too bad.

Here are a couple of websites:
http://www.rossexchange.com
http://www.discountlaserdisc.com/

They look like they only sell used ones. Don't know anything about these sites, I found them searching the web.

If memory serves me correctly, the last new laserdisc issued in the United States was "End Of Days". Laserdisc was a niche market, and DVD essentially killed the laserdisc.

It was a very sudden death. One day Pioneer simply stated that it was going to stop making laserdiscs and essentially opened up the warehouse to a fire sale. Everything was liquidated pretty fast.

I have a *lot* of laser disks (probably in excess of 300). To me DVDs now are better picture quality and better sound that laserdisc. Note that was not true when DVDs first came out. But, now the compression technology on them is so good, you get a far better picture on DVD. I go back and watch some of my old "best" laser discs and cannot believe that the picture is so poor.

The main problem that laser discs had is that they were not anamorphic. So, when you had wide screen you ended up with just 250-300 lines of resolution, were a DVD will have 480. With a high definition television, it is very obvious.

A timely subject here. I am relocating and have to get rid of some electronic gear including an almost never used Laser Disk player model CLD=D503. Plays both sides of disk w/o manually turning it over. Also plays CD's. Any takers?

The only thing still good about my Pioneer LD player is it's the only way to watch the original Star Wars Trilogy in DD 5.1 :)

Does anyone know if either the Pioneer v2200 or v2400 play double sided disks or you have to flip it over? Thanks.

BTW, I have a spare RF Demodulator if any of you need one to decode Dolby Digital sound for your laserdiscs. I got the Integra 9.1 receiver which had a an integrated one so I didn't need it anymore. They haven't made the things for 4 years so I know it is rare......

I still play laserdiscs occasionally..... mostly for the Star Wars Trilogy (I REFUSE to watch any movie on VHS).

I just upgraded my preamp and still have the RF demodulator. The RF AC3 on laserdiscs was a bit of a hack, but it works well. My preamp is smart enough to look for the RF first, then looks for the PCM then looks for the analog tracks on laser discs.
